Galatians 4:1And I say, so long time as the heir is a babe, he differeth nothing from a servant being lord of all,Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But I say that as long as the son is a child, he is in no way different from a servant, though he is lord of all;
Galatians 4:2but is under tutors and stewards till the time appointed of the father,But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. But is under keepers and managers till the time fixed by the father.
Galatians 4:3so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude,Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: So we, when we were young, were kept under the first rules of the world;
Galatians 4:4and when the fulness of time did come, God sent forth His Son, come of a woman, come under law,But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, But when the time had come, God sent out his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Galatians 4:5that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive;To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. That he might make them free who were under the law, and that we might be given the place of sons.
Galatians 4:6and because ye are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, `Abba, Father!`And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. And because you are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, saying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:7so that thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. So that you are no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, then the heritage of God is yours.
Galatians 4:8But then, indeed, not having known God, ye were in servitude to those not by nature gods,Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But at that time, having no knowledge of God, you were servants to those who by right are no gods:
Galatians 4:9and now, having known God and rather being known by God how turn ye again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew ye desire to be in servitude?But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? But now that you have come to have knowledge of God, or more truly, God has knowledge of you, how is it that you go back again to the poor and feeble first things, desiring to be servants to them again?
Galatians 4:10days ye observe, and months, and times, and years!Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. You keep days, and months, and fixed times, and years.
Galatians 4:11I am afraid of you, lest in vain I did labour toward you.I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. I am in fear of you, that I may have been working for you to no purpose.
Galatians 4:12Become as I [am] because I also [am] as ye brethren, I beseech you; to me ye did no hurt,Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all. My desire for you, brothers, is that you may be as I am, because I am as you are. You have done me no wrong;
Galatians 4:13and ye have known that through infirmity of the flesh I did proclaim good news to you at the first,Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. But you have knowledge that with a feeble body I was preaching the good news to you the first time;
Galatians 4:14and my trial that [is] in my flesh ye did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger of God ye did receive me as Christ Jesus;And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. And you did not have a poor opinion of me because of the trouble in my flesh, or put shame on it; but you took me to your hearts as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:15what then was your happiness? for I testify to you, that if possible, your eyes having plucked out, ye would have given to me;Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Where then is that happy condition of yours? because I give you witness, that, if possible, you would have taken out your eyes and given them to me.
Galatians 4:16so that your enemy have I become, being true to you?Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? So then am I no longer your friend, because I give you true words?
Galatians 4:17they are zealous for you [yet] not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them ye may be zealous;They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. Their interest in you is not good; but their desire is that you may be shut out, so that you may go after them.
Galatians 4:18and [it is] good to be zealously regarded, in what is good, at all times, and not only in my being present with you;But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. But it is good to have an interest in a good cause at all times, and not only when I am present with you.
Galatians 4:19my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you,My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, My children, of whom I am again in birth-pains till Christ is formed in you,
Galatians 4:20and I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice, because I am in doubt about you.I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you. Truly my desire is to be present with you now, using a changed voice; for I am troubled about you.
Galatians 4:21Tell me, ye who are willing to be under law, the law do ye not hear?Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? Say, you whose desire it is to be under the law, do you not give ear to the law?
Galatians 4:22for it hath been written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the maid-servant, and one by the free-woman,For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. Because it is in the Writings, that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant-woman, and one by the free woman.
Galatians 4:23but he who [is] of the maid-servant, according to flesh hath been, and he who [is] of the free-woman, through the promise;But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Now the son by the servant-woman has his birth after the flesh; but the son by the free woman has his birth through the undertaking of God.
Galatians 4:24which things are allegorized, for these are the two covenants: one, indeed, from mount Sinai, to servitude bringing forth, which is Hagar;Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. Which things have a secret sense; because these women are the two agreements; one from the mountain of Sinai, giving birth to servants, which is Hagar.
Galatians 4:25for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children,For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. Now this Hagar is the mountain Sinai in Arabia, and is the image of the Jerusalem which now is: which is a servant with her children.
Galatians 4:26and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all,But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. But the Jerusalem on high is free, which is our mother.
Galatians 4:27for it hath been written, `Rejoice, O barren, who art not bearing; break forth and cry, thou who art not travailing, because many [are] the children of the desolate more than of her having the husband.`For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. For it is in the Writings, You who have never given birth, be glad; give cries of joy, you who have had no birth-pains; for the children of her who has been given up by her husband are more than those of the woman who has a husband.
Galatians 4:28And we, brethren, as Isaac, are children of promise,Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are the children of the undertaking of God.
Galatians 4:29but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now;But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. But as in those days he who had birth after the flesh was cruel to him who had birth after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Galatians 4:30but what saith the Writing? `Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;`Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. What then do the Writings say? Send away the servant-woman and her son; for the son of the servant-woman will not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman.
Galatians 4:31then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant`s children, but the free-woman`s.So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free. So, brothers, we are not children of the servant-woman, but of the free woman.
