Luke 4:1 | And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness, | And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, | And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, came back from the Jordan, and was guided by the Spirit in the waste land |
Luke 4:2 | forty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered, | Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. | For forty days, being tested by the Evil One. And he had no food in those days; and when they came to an end, he was in need of food. |
Luke 4:3 | and the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.` | And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. | And the Evil One said to him, If you are the Son of God, give orders to this stone to become bread. |
Luke 4:4 | And Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.` | And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. | And Jesus made answer to him, It has been said in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need. |
Luke 4:5 | And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, | And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. | And he took him up and let him see all the kingdoms of the earth in a minute of time. |
Luke 4:6 | and the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it; | And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. | And the Evil One said, I will give you authority over all these, and the glory of them, for it has been given to me, and I give it to anyone at my pleasure. |
Luke 4:7 | thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me all shall be thine.` | If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. | If then you will give worship to me, it will all be yours. |
Luke 4:8 | And Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.` | And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. | And Jesus in answer said to him, It has been said in the Writings, Give worship to the Lord your God, and be his servant only. |

Luke 4:10 | for it hath been written To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee, | For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: | He will give his angels orders to take care of you: |
Luke 4:11 | and On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.` | And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. | And, In their hands they will keep you up, so that your foot may not be crushed against a stone. |
Luke 4:12 | And Jesus answering said to him `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.` | And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. | And Jesus made answer and said to him, It is said in the Writings, You may not put the Lord your God to the test. |
Luke 4:13 | And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season. | And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. | And when all these tests were ended the Evil One went away from him for a time. |
Luke 4:14 | And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him, | And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. | And Jesus came back to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and the news of him went through all the country round about. |
Luke 4:15 | and he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all. | And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. | And he was teaching in their Synagogues and all men gave him praise. |

Luke 4:18 | `The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance, | The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, | The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are broken-hearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains, |
Luke 4:19 | To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.` | To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. | To give knowledge that the year of the Lord's good pleasure is come. |
Luke 4:20 | And having folded the roll, having given [it] back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him. | And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. Luke 4:23 | And he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;` | And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. | And he said to them, Without doubt you will say to me, Let the medical man make himself well: the things which to our knowledge were done at Capernaum, do them here in your country. |

Luke 4:26 | and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow; | But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. | But Elijah was not sent to one of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. |
Luke 4:27 | and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian.` | And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. | And there were a number of lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and not one of them was made clean, but only Naaman the Syrian. |

Luke 4:35 | And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;` and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought; | And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. | And Jesus said to him, Be quiet, and come out of him. And when the evil spirit had put him down on the earth in the middle of them, he came out of him, having done him no damage. |
Luke 4:36 | and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What [is] this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?` | And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. | And wonder came on them all and they said to one another, What are these words? for with authority and power he gives orders to the evil spirits and they come out. |
Luke 4:37 | and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about. | And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. | And there was much talk about him in all the places round about. |
Luke 4:38 | And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her, | And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. | And he got up and went out of the Synagogue and went into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was very ill with a burning heat; and in answer to their prayers for her |
Luke 4:39 | and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them. | And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. | He went near her, and with a sharp word he gave orders to the disease and it went away from her; and straight away she got up and took care of their needs. |
Luke 4:40 | And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them [his] hands having put, did heal them. | Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. | And at sundown all those who had anyone ill with any sort of disease, took them to him, and he put his hands on every one of them and made them well. |
Luke 4:41 | And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;` and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ. | And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. | And evil spirits came out of a number of them, crying out and saying, You are the Son of God. But he gave them sharp orders not to say a word, because they had knowledge that he was the Christ. |
Luke 4:42 | And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him not to go on from them, | And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. | And when it was day, he came out and went to a waste place; and great numbers of people came looking for him, and they came to him and would have kept him from going away. |
Luke 4:43 | and he said unto them `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;` | And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. | But he said to them, I have to give the good news of the kingdom of God in other towns, because that is why I was sent. |
Luke 4:44 | and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee. | And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee. | And he was teaching in the Synagogues of Galilee. |
