Luke 4:1And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, But Jesus, full of [the] Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness
Luke 4:2forty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. forty days, tempted of the devil; and in those days he did not eat anything, and when they were finished he hungered.
Luke 4:3and the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.`And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And the devil said to him, If thou be Son of God, speak to this stone, that it become bread.
Luke 4:4And Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.`And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And Jesus answered unto him saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Luke 4:5And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.And [the devil], leading him up into a high mountain, shewed him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time.
Luke 4:6and the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. And the devil said to him, I will give thee all this power, and their glory; for it is given up to me, and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Luke 4:7thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me all shall be thine.`If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. If therefore *thou* wilt do homage before me, all [of it] shall be thine.
Luke 4:8And Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.`And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. And Jesus answering him said, It is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve.
Luke 4:9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the edge of the temple, and said to him, If thou be Son of God, cast thyself down hence;
Luke 4:10for it hath been written To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee to keep thee;
Luke 4:11and On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.`And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in any wise thou strike thy foot against a stone.
Luke 4:12And Jesus answering said to him `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.`And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And Jesus answering said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt [the] Lord thy God.
Luke 4:13And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And the devil, having completed every temptation, departed from him for a time.
Luke 4:14And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee; and a rumour went out into the whole surrounding country about him;
Luke 4:15and he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. and *he* taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Luke 4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Luke 4:17and there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, And [the] book of the prophet Esaias was given to him; and having unrolled the book he found the place where it was written,
Luke 4:18`The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, [The] Spirit of [the] Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to [the] poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to [the] blind sight, to send forth [the] crushed delivered,
Luke 4:19To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.`To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. to preach [the] acceptable year of [the] Lord.
Luke 4:20And having folded the roll, having given [it] back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
Luke 4:21And he began to say unto them `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;`And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And he began to say to them, To-day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.
Luke 4:22and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?`And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son? And all bore witness to him, and wondered at the words of grace which were coming out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this the son of Joseph?
Luke 4:23And he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;`And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this parable, Physician, heal thyself; whatsoever we have heard has taken place in Capernaum do here also in thine own country.
Luke 4:24and he said, `Verily I say to you No prophet is accepted in his own country;And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. And he said, Verily I say to you, that no prophet is acceptable in his [own] country.
Luke 4:25and of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But of a truth I say to you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, so that a great famine came upon all the land,
Luke 4:26and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. and to none of them was Elias sent but to Sarepta of Sidonia, to a woman [that was] a widow.
Luke 4:27and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian.`And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.
Luke 4:28And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And they were all filled with rage in the synagogue, hearing these things;
Luke 4:29and having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built to cast him down headlong,And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. and rising up they cast him forth out of the city, and led him up to the brow of the mountain upon which their city was built, so that they might throw him down the precipice;
Luke 4:30and he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.But he passing through the midst of them went his way, but *he*, passing through the midst of them, went his way,
Luke 4:31And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. and descended to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbaths.
Luke 4:32and they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was with authority.
Luke 4:33And in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, And there was in the synagogue a man having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried with a loud voice,
Luke 4:34saying, `Away, what to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art the Holy One of God.`Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy [One] of God.
Luke 4:35And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;` and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out from him. And the demon, having thrown him down into the midst, came out from him without doing him any injury.
Luke 4:36and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What [is] this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?`And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.And astonishment came upon all, and they spoke to one another, saying, What word [is] this? for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.
Luke 4:37and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. And a rumour went out into every place of the country round concerning him.
Luke 4:38And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And rising up out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon. But Simon's mother-in-law was suffering under a bad fever; and they asked him for her.
Luke 4:39and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. And standing over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her; and forthwith standing up she served them.
Luke 4:40And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them [his] hands having put, did heal them.Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. And when the sun went down, all, as many as had persons sick with divers diseases, brought them to him, and having laid his hands on every one of them, he healed them;
Luke 4:41And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;` and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. and demons also went out from many, crying out and saying, *Thou* art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
Luke 4:42And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him not to go on from them,And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And when it was day he went out, and went into a desert place, and the crowds sought after him, and came up to him, and [would have] kept him back that he should not go from them.
Luke 4:43and he said unto them `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;`And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. But he said to them, I must needs announce the glad tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for for this I have been sent forth.
Luke 4:44and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee. And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
