Matthew 4:1 | Then Jesus was led up to the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted by the Devil, | Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. | Then Jesus was carried up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted of the devil: |
Matthew 4:2 | and having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he did hunger. | And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. | and having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he hungered. |
Matthew 4:3 | And the Tempter having come to him said, `If Son thou art of God speak that these stones may become loaves.` | And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. | And the tempter coming up to him said, If thou be Son of God, speak, that these stones may become loaves of bread. |

Matthew 4:5 | Then doth the Devil take him to the [holy] city, and doth set him on the pinnacle of the temple, | Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, | Then the devil takes him to the holy city, and sets him upon the edge of the temple, |
Matthew 4:6 | and saith to him, `If Son thou art of God cast thyself down, for it hath been written, that, His messengers He shall charge concerning thee, and on hands they shall bear thee up, that thou mayest not dash on a stone thy foot.` | And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. | and says to him, If thou be Son of God cast thyself down; for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee, and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in anywise thou strike thy foot against a stone. |
