Acts 2:1And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place,And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. At length, on the day of the Harvest Festival, they had all met in one place;
Acts 2:2and there came suddenly out of the heaven a sound as of a bearing violent breath, and it filled all the house where they were sitting,And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. when suddenly there came from the sky a sound as of a strong rushing blast of wind. This filled the whole house where they were sitting;
Acts 2:3and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them,And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. and they saw tongues of what looked like fire distributing themselves over the assembly, and on the head of each person a tongue alighted.
Acts 2:4and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare.And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in foreign languages according as the Spirit gave them words to utter.
Acts 2:5And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven,And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, devout men from every part of the world.
Acts 2:6and the rumour of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were each one hearing them speaking in his proper dialect,Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. So when this noise was heard, they came crowding together, and were amazed because everyone heard his own language spoken.
Acts 2:7and they were all amazed, and did wonder, saying one unto another, `Lo, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? They were beside themselves with wonder, and exclaimed, "Are not all these speakers Galilaeans?
Acts 2:8and how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born?And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? How then does each of us hear his own native language spoken by them?
Acts 2:9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia,Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Some of us are Parthians, Medes, Elamites. Some are inhabitants of Mesopotamia, of Judaea or Cappadocia, of Pontus or the Asian Province, of Phrygia or Pamphylia,
Acts 2:10Phrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya, that [are] along Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes,Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, of Egypt or of the parts of Africa towards Cyrene. Others are visitors from Rome being either Jews or converts from heathenism and others are Cretans or Arabians.
Acts 2:11Cretes and Arabians, we did hear them speaking in our tongues the great things of God.`Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. Yet we all alike hear these Galilaeans speaking in our own language about the wonderful things which God has done."
Acts 2:12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one unto another, `What would this wish to be?`And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? They were all astounded and bewildered, and asked one another, "What can this mean?"
Acts 2:13and others mocking said, `They are full of sweet wine;`Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But others, scornfully jeering, said, "They are brim-full of sweet wine."
Acts 2:14and Peter having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them, `Men, Jews! and all those dwelling in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and harken to my sayings,But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: Peter however, together with the Eleven, stood up and addressed them in a loud voice. "Men of Judaea, and all you inhabitants of Jerusalem," he said, "be in no uncertainty about this matter but pay attention to what I say.
Acts 2:15for these are not drunken, as ye take it up, for it is the third hour of the day.For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. For this is not intoxication, as you suppose, it being only the third hour of the day.
Acts 2:16`But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; But that which was predicted through the Prophet Joel has happened:
Acts 2:17And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, God says, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall have dreams;
Acts 2:18and also upon My men-servants, and upon My maid-servants, in those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy;And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: and even upon My bondservants, both men and women, at that time, I will pour out My Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
Acts 2:19and I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth beneath blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke,And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: I will display marvels in the sky above, and signs on the earth below, blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Acts 2:20the sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord the great and illustrious;The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, to usher in the day of the Lord that great and illustrious day;
Acts 2:21and it shall be, every one whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. and every one who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
Acts 2:22`Men, Israelites! hear these words, Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through him in the midst of you, according as also ye yourselves have known;Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: "Listen, Israelites, to what I say. Jesus, the Nazarene, a man accredited to you from God by miracles and marvels and signs which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know, Him
Acts 2:23this one, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having taken by lawless hands, having crucified ye did slay;Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: delivered up through God's settled purpose and foreknowledge you by the hands of Gentiles have nailed to a cross and have put to death.
Acts 2:24whom God did raise up, having loosed the pains of the death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it,Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. But God has raised Him to life, having terminated the throes of death, for in fact it was not possible for Him to be held fast by death.
Acts 2:25for David saith in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me because He is on my right hand that I may not be moved;For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: For David says in reference to Him, "`I constantly fixed my eyes upon the Lord, because He is at my right hand in order that I may continue unshaken.
Acts 2:26because of this was my heart cheered, and my tongue was glad, and yet my flesh also shall rest on hope,Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: For this reason my heart is glad and my tongue exults. My body also shall rest in hope.
Acts 2:27because Thou wilt not leave my soul to hades, nor wilt Thou give Thy Kind One to see corruption;Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For Thou wilt not leave me in the Unseen World forsaken, nor give up Thy holy One to undergo decay.
Acts 2:28Thou didst make known to me ways of life, Thou shalt fill me with joy with Thy countenance.Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Thou hast made known to me the ways of Life: Thou wilt fill me with gladness in Thy presence.'
Acts 2:29`Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day;Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Acts 2:30a prophet, therefore, being, and knowing that with an oath God did swear to him, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne,Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; Being a Prophet, however, and knowing that God had solemnly sworn to him to seat a descendant of his upon his throne,
Acts 2:31having foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. with prophetic foresight he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, to the effect that He was not left forsaken in the Unseen World, nor did His body undergo decay.
Acts 2:32`This Jesus did God raise up, of which we are all witnesses;This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. This Jesus, God has raised to life a fact to which all of us testify.
Acts 2:33at the right hand then of God having been exalted also the promise of the Holy Spirit having received from the Father he was shedding forth this, which now ye see and hear;Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. "Being therefore lifted high by the mighty hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out this which you see and hear.
Acts 2:34for David did not go up to the heavens, and he saith himself: The Lord saith to my lord, Sit thou at my right hand,For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, For David did not ascend into Heaven, but he says himself, "`The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand
Acts 2:35till I make thy foes thy footstool;Until I make thy foes thy footstool. until I make thy foes a footstool under thy feet.'
Acts 2:36assuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know, that both Lord and Christ did God make him this Jesus whom ye did crucify.`Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. "Therefore let the whole House of Israel know beyond all doubt that God has made Him both LORD and CHRIST this Jesus whom you crucified."
Acts 2:37And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, `What shall we do, men, brethren?`Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Stung to the heart by these words, they said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles, "Brethren, what are we to do?"
Acts 2:38and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "Repent," replied Peter, "and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, with a view to the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:39for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.`For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. For to you belongs the promise, and to your children, and to all who are far off, whoever the Lord our God may call."
Acts 2:40Also with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, `Be saved from this perverse generation;`And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. And with many more appeals he solemnly warned and entreated them, saying, "Escape from this crooked generation."
Acts 2:41then those, indeed, who did gladly receive his word were baptized, and there were added on that day, as it were, three thousand souls,Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Those, therefore, who joyfully welcomed his Message were baptized; and on that one day about three thousand persons were added to them;
Acts 2:42and they were continuing stedfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. and they were constant in listening to the teaching of the Apostles and in their attendance at the Communion, that is, the Breaking of the Bread, and at prayer.
Acts 2:43And fear came on every soul, many wonders also and signs were being done through the apostles,And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. Fear came upon every one, and many marvels and signs were done by the Apostles.
Acts 2:44and all those believing were at the same place, and had all things common,And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And all the believers kept together, and had everything in common.
Acts 2:45and the possessions and the goods they were selling, and were parting them to all, according as any one had need.And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. They sold their lands and other property, and distributed the proceeds among all, according to every one's necessities.
Acts 2:46Daily also continuing with one accord in the temple, breaking also at every house bread, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart,And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, And, day by day, attending constantly in the Temple with one accord, and breaking bread in private houses, they took their meals with great happiness and single-heartedness,
Acts 2:47praising God, and having favour with all the people, and the Lord was adding those being saved every day to the assembly.Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. praising God and being regarded with favour by all the people. Also, day by day, the Lord added to their number those whom He was saving.
