Jude 1:1Judas, of Jesus Christ a servant, and brother of James, to those sanctified in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ kept called,Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James: To those who are in God the Father, enfolded in His love, and kept for Jesus Christ, and called.
Jude 1:2kindness to you, and peace, and love, be multiplied!Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. May mercy, peace and love be abundantly granted to you.
Jude 1:3Beloved, all diligence using to write to you concerning the common salvation, I had necessity to write to you, exhorting to agonize for the faith once delivered to the saints,Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Dear friends, since I am eager to begin a letter to you on the subject of our common salvation, I find myself constrained to write and cheer you on to the vigorous defense of the faith delivered once for all to God's people.
Jude 1:4for there did come in unobserved certain men, long ago having been written beforehand to this judgment, impious, the grace of our God perverting to lasciviousness, and our only Master, God, and Lord Jesus Christ denying,For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed men spoken of in ancient writings as pre-destined to this condemnation ungodly men, who pervert the grace of our God into an excuse for immorality, and disown Jesus Christ, our only Sovereign and Lord.
Jude 1:5and to remind you I intend, you knowing once this, that the Lord, a people out of the land of Egypt having saved, again those who did not believe did destroy;I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. I desire to remind you although the whole matter is already familiar to you that the Lord saved a people out of the land of Egypt, but afterwards destroyed those who had no faith.
Jude 1:6messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He hath kept,And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. And angels those who did not keep the position originally assigned to them, but deserted their own proper abode He reserves in everlasting bonds, in darkness, in preparation for the judgement of the great day.
Jude 1:7as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering.Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. So also Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns in the same manner having been guilty of gross fornication and having gone astray in pursuit of unnatural vice, are now before us as a specimen of the fire of the Ages in the punishment which they are undergoing.
Jude 1:8In like manner, nevertheless, those dreaming also the flesh indeed do defile, and lordship they put away, and dignities they speak evil of,Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet in just the same way these dreamers also pollute the body, while they set authority at naught and speak evil of dignities.
Jude 1:9yet Michael, the chief messenger, when, with the devil contending, he was disputing about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring up an evil-speaking judgment, but said, `The Lord rebuke thee!`Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. But Michael the Archangel, when contending with the Devil and arguing with him about the body of Moses, did not dare to pronounce judgement on him in abusive terms, but simply said, "The Lord rebuke you."
Jude 1:10and these, as many things indeed as they have not known, they speak evil of; and as many things as naturally (as the irrational beasts) they understand, in these they are corrupted;But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Yet these men are abusive in matters of which they know nothing, and in things which, like the brutes, they understand instinctively in all these they corrupt themselves.
Jude 1:11wo to them! because in the way of Cain they did go on, and to the deceit of Balaam for reward they did rush, and in the gainsaying of Korah they did perish.Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. Alas for them; for they have followed in the steps of Cain; for the sake of gain they have rushed on headlong in the evil ways of Balaam; and have perished in rebellion like that of Korah!
Jude 1:12These are in your love-feasts craggy rocks; feasting together with you, without fear shepherding themselves; clouds without water, by winds carried about; trees autumnal, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up;These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; These men sunken rocks! are those who share the pleasure of your love-feasts, unrestrained by fear while caring only for themselves; clouds without water, driven away by the winds; trees that cast their fruit, barren, doubly dead, uprooted;
Jude 1:13wild waves of a sea, foaming out their own shames; stars going astray, to whom the gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept.Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved dense darkness of age-long duration.
Jude 1:14And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam Enoch saying, `Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads,And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, It was also about these that Enoch, who belonged to the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "The Lord has come, attended by myriads of His people, to execute judgement upon all,
Jude 1:15to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.`To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly deeds which in their ungodliness they have committed, and of all the hard words which they, ungodly sinners as they are, have spoken against Him."
Jude 1:16These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth doth speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. These men are murmurers, ever bemoaning their lot. Their lives are guided by their evil passions, and their mouths are full of big, boastful words, while they treat individual men with admiring reverence for the sake of the advantage they can gain.
Jude 1:17and ye, beloved, remember ye the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; But as for you, my dearly-loved friends, remember the words that before now were spoken by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ
Jude 1:18that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. how they declared to you, "In the last times there shall be scoffers, obeying only their own ungodly passions."
Jude 1:19these are those setting themselves apart, natural men, the Spirit not having.These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. These are those who cause divisions. They are men of the world, wholly unspiritual.
Jude 1:20And ye, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying,But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, But you, my dearly-loved friends, building yourselves up on the basis of your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 1:21yourselves in the love of God keep ye, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ to life age-during;Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. must keep yourselves safe in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ which will result in the Life of the Ages.
Jude 1:22and to some be kind, judging thoroughly,And of some have compassion, making a difference: Some, when they argue with you, you must endeavor to convince;
Jude 1:23and some in fear save ye, out of the fire snatching, hating even the coat from the flesh spotted.And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. others you must try to save, as brands plucked from the flames; and on others look with pity mingled with fear, while you hate every trace of their sin.
Jude 1:24And to Him who is able to guard you not stumbling, and to set [you] in the presence of His glory unblemished, in gladness,Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, But to Him who is able to keep you safe from stumbling, and cause you to stand in the presence of His glory free from blemish and full of exultant joy
Jude 1:25to the only wise God our Saviour, [is] glory and greatness, power and authority, both now and to all the ages! Amen.To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. to the only God our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord, be ascribed glory, majesty, might, and authority, as it was before all time, is now, and shall be to all the Ages! Amen.
