And they murmured against her. | For that ointment might have been sold for fifteen pounds or more, and the money have been given to the poor." And they were exceedingly angry with her. |
Mark 14:6 | And Jesus said, `Let her alone; why are ye giving her trouble? a good work she wrought on me; | And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. | But Jesus said, "Leave her alone: why are you troubling her? She has done a most gracious act towards me. |
Mark 14:7 | for the poor always ye have with you, and whenever ye may will ye are able to do them good, but me ye have not always; | For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. | For you always have the poor among you, and whenever you choose you can do acts of kindness to them; but me you have not always. |
Mark 14:8 | what she could she did, she anticipated to anoint my body for the embalming. | She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. | What she could she did: she has perfumed my body in preparation for my burial. |
Mark 14:9 | Verily I say to you, wherever this good news may be proclaimed in the whole world, what also this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.` | Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. | And I solemnly tell you that wherever in the whole world the Good News shall be proclaimed, this which she has done shall also be told in remembrance of her." |

Enough! the hour has come. Even now they are betraying the Son of Man into the hands of sinful men. |
Mark 14:42 | rise, we may go, lo, he who is delivering me up hath come nigh.` | Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. | Rouse yourselves, let us be going: my betrayer is close at hand." |

Mark 14:44 | and he who is delivering him up had given a token to them, saying, `Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is, lay hold on him, and lead him away safely,` | And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. | Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them. "The one I kiss," he said, "is the man: lay hold of him, and take him safely away." |
Mark 14:45 | and having come, immediately, having gone near him, he saith, `Rabbi, Rabbi,` and kissed him. | And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him. | So he came, and going straight to Jesus he said, "Rabbi!" and kissed Him with seeming affection; |
Mark 14:46 | And they laid on him their hands, and kept hold on him; | And they laid their hands on him, and took him. | whereupon they laid hands on Him and held Him firmly. |

Mark 14:49 | daily I was with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not lay hold on me but that the Writings may be fulfilled.` | I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. | Day after day I used to be among you in the Temple teaching, and you never seized me. But this is happening in order that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.' |

Of him they laid hold, |
Mark 14:52 | and he, having left the linen cloth, did flee from them naked. | And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked. | but he left the linen cloth in their hands and fled without it. |

Mark 14:54 | and Peter afar off did follow him, to the inside of the hall of the chief priest, and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself near the fire. | And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. | Peter followed Jesus at a distance, as far as the outer court of the High Priest's palace. But there he remained sitting among the officers, and warming himself by the fire. |
Mark 14:55 | And the chief priests and all the sanhedrim were seeking against Jesus testimony to put him to death, and they were not finding, | And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. | Meanwhile the High Priests and the entire Sanhedrin were endeavouring to get evidence against Jesus in order to put Him to death, but could find none; |
Mark 14:56 | for many were bearing false testimony against him, and their testimonies were not alike. | For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. | for though many gave false testimony against Him, their statements did not tally. |
Mark 14:57 | And certain having risen up, were bearing false testimony against him, saying | And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, | Then some came forward as witnesses and falsely declared, |
Mark 14:58 | `We heard him saying I will throw down this sanctuary made with hands, and by three days, another made without hands I will build;` | We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. | "We have heard him say, `I will pull down this Sanctuary built by human hands, and three days afterwards I will erect another built without hands.'" |
Mark 14:59 | and neither so was their testimony alike. | But neither so did their witness agree together. | But not even in this shape was their testimony consistent. |
Mark 14:60 | And the chief priest, having risen up in the midst, questioned Jesus, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! what do these testify against thee?` | And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? | At last the High Priest stood up, and advancing into the midst of them all, asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is the meaning of all this that these witnesses allege against you?" |
Mark 14:61 | and he was keeping silent, and did not answer anything. Again the chief priest was questioning him, and saith to him, `Art thou the Christ the Son of the Blessed?` | But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? | But He remained silent, and gave no reply. A second time the High Priest questioned Him. "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" he said. |
Mark 14:62 | and Jesus said, `I am; and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of the power, and coming with the clouds, of the heaven.` | And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. | "I am," replied Jesus, "and you and others will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the divine Power, and coming amid the clouds of the sky." |
Mark 14:63 | And the chief priest, having rent his garments, saith, `What need have we yet of witnesses? | Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? | Rending his garments the High Priest exclaimed, "What need have we of witnesses after that? |
Mark 14:64 | Ye heard the evil speaking, what appeareth to you?` and they all condemned him to be worthy of death, | Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. | You all heard his impious words. What is your judgement?" Then with one voice they condemned Him as deserving of death. |
Mark 14:65 | and certain began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, `Prophesy;` and the officers were striking him with their palms. | And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands. | Thereupon some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, while striking Him with their fists and crying, "Prove that you are a prophet." The officers too struck Him with open hands as they took Him in charge. |
Mark 14:66 | And Peter being in the hall beneath, there doth come one of the maids of the chief priest, | And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: | Now while Peter was below in the quadrangle, one of the High Priest's maidservants came, |
Mark 14:67 | and having seen Peter warming himself, having looked on him, she said, `And thou wast with Jesus of Nazareth!` | And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. | and seeing Peter warming himself she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus, the Nazarene." |
Mark 14:68 | and he denied, saying, `I have not known [him], neither do I understand what thou sayest;` and he went forth without to the porch, and a cock crew. | But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. | But he denied it, and said, "I don't know I don't understand What do you mean?" And then he went out into the outer court. Just then a cock crowed. |
Mark 14:69 | And the maid having seen him again, began to say to those standing near `This is of them;` | And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. | Again the maidservant saw him, and again began to say to the people standing by, "He is one of them." |
Mark 14:70 | and he was again denying. And after a little again, those standing near said to Peter, `Truly thou art of them, for thou also art a Galilean, and thy speech is alike;` | And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. | A second time he repeatedly denied it. Soon afterwards the bystanders again accused Peter, saying, "You are surely one of them, for you too are a Galilaean." |
Mark 14:71 | and he began to anathematize, and to swear `I have not known this man of whom ye speak;` | But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. | But he broke out into curses and oaths, declaring, "I know nothing of the man you are talking about." |
Mark 14:72 | and a second time a cock crew, and Peter remembered the saying that Jesus said to him `Before a cock crow twice, thou mayest deny me thrice;` and having thought thereon he was weeping. | And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. | No sooner had he spoken than a cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recollected the words of Jesus, "Before the cock crows twice, you will three times disown me." And as he thought of it, he wept aloud. |
