| Romans 14:1 | And him who is weak in the faith receive ye not to determinations of reasonings; | Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. | I now pass to another subject. Receive as a friend a man whose faith is weak, but not for the purpose of deciding mere matters of opinion. |
| Romans 14:2 | one doth believe that he may eat all things and he who is weak doth eat herbs; | For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. | One man's faith allows him to eat anything, while a man of weaker faith eats nothing but vegetables. |
| Romans 14:3 | let not him who is eating despise him who is not eating: and let not him who is not eating judge him who is eating, for God did receive him. | Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. | Let not him who eats certain food look down upon him who abstains from it, nor him who abstains from it find fault with him who eats it; for God has received both of them. |

Whether he stands or falls is a matter which concerns his own master. But stand he will; for the Master can give him power to stand. |

| Romans 14:15 | and if through victuals thy brother is grieved, no more dost thou walk according to love; do not with thy victuals destroy that one for whom Christ died. | But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. | If your brother is pained by the food you are eating, your conduct is no longer controlled by love. Take care lest, by the food you eat, you lead to ruin a man for whom Christ died. |

All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. | Do not for food's sake be throwing down God's work. All food is pure; but a man is in the wrong if his food is a snare to others. |

| Romans 14:22 | Thou hast faith! to thyself have [it] before God; happy is he who is not judging himself in what he doth approve, | Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. | As for you and your faith, keep your faith to yourself in the presence of God. The man is to be congratulated who does not pronounce judgement on himself in what his actions sanction. |
| Romans 14:23 | and he who is making a difference, if he may eat, hath been condemned, because [it is] not of faith; and all that [is] not of faith is sin. | And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. | But he who has misgivings and yet eats meat is condemned already, because his conduct is not based on faith; for all conduct not based on faith is sinful. |
