Genesis 23:1And the life of Sarah is a hundred and twenty and seven years years of the life of Sarah;And Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.And the life of Sarah was a hundred and seven and twenty years. These were the years of the life of Sarah.
Genesis 23:2and Sarah dieth in Kirjath-Arba, which [is] Hebron, in the land of Caanan, and Abraham goeth in to mourn for Sarah, and to bewail her.And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.And Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
Genesis 23:3And Abraham riseth up from the presence of his dead, and speaketh unto the sons of Heth, saying,And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spake unto the children of Heth, saying,
Genesis 23:4`A sojourner and a settler I [am] with you; give to me a possession of a burying-place with you, and I bury my dead from before me.`I am a stranger and a sojourner with you; give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
Genesis 23:5And the sons of Heth answer Abraham, saying to him,And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,
Genesis 23:6`Hear us, my lord; a prince of God [art] thou in our midst; in the choice of our burying-places bury thy dead: none of us his burying-place doth withhold from thee, from burying thy dead.`Hear us, my lord; thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchers bury thy dead: none of us will withhold from thee his sepulcher, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.Hear us, my lord. Thou art a prince of God among us. In the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead. None of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
Genesis 23:7And Abraham riseth and boweth himself to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth,And Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.And Abraham rose up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
Genesis 23:8and he speaketh with them, saying, `If it is your desire to bury my dead from before me, hear me, and meet for me with Ephron, son of Zoar;And he communed with them, saying, If it is your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
Genesis 23:9and he giveth to me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which [is] in the extremity of his field; for full money doth he give it to me, in your midst, for a possession of a burying-place.`That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me, for a possession of a burying-place among you.that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field. For the full price let him give it to me in the midst of you for a possession of a burying-place.
Genesis 23:10And Ephron is sitting in the midst of the sons of Heth, and Ephron the Hittite answereth Abraham in the ears of the sons of Heth, of all those entering the gate of his city, saying,And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, of all that entered the gates of his city, saying,Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
Genesis 23:11`Nay, my lord, hear me: the field I have given to thee, and the cave that [is] in it, to thee I have given it; before the eyes of the sons of my people I have given it to thee bury thy dead.`Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I to thee, and the cave that is in it, I give it to thee; in the presence of the sons of my people I give it to thee: bury thy dead.Nay, my lord, hear me. The field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee. In the presence of the children of my people give I it thee. Bury thy dead.
Genesis 23:12And Abraham boweth himself before the people of the land,And Abraham bowed himself before the people of the land.And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.
Genesis 23:13and speaketh unto Ephron in the ears of the people of the land, saying, `Only if thou wouldst hear me I have given the money of the field accept from me, and I bury my dead there.`And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field: take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt, I pray thee, hear me. I will give the price of the field. Take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
Genesis 23:14And Ephron answereth Abraham, saying to him,And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
Genesis 23:15`My lord, hear me: the land four hundred shekels of silver; between me and thee, what [is] it? thy dead bury.`My lord, hearken to me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.My lord, hearken unto me. A piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that betwixt me and thee? Bury therefore thy dead.
Genesis 23:16And Abraham hearkeneth unto Ephron, and Abraham weigheth to Ephron the silver which he hath spoken of in the ears of the sons of Heth, four hundred silver shekels, passing with the merchant.And Abraham hearkened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron. And Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the audience of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current [money] with the merchant.
Genesis 23:17And established are the field of Ephron, which [is] in Machpelah, which [is] before Mamre, the field and the cave which [is] in it, and all the trees which [are] in the field, which [are] in all its border round about,And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sureSo the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure
Genesis 23:18to Abraham by purchase, before the eyes of the sons of Heth, among all entering the gate of his city.To Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that entered the gate of his city.unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
Genesis 23:19And after this hath Abraham buried Sarah his wife at the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (which [is] Hebron), in the land of Canaan;And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.
Genesis 23:20and established are the field, and the cave which [is] in it, to Abraham for a possession of a burying-place, from the sons of Heth.And the field, and the cave that is in it were made sure to Abraham for a possession of a burying-place, by the sons of Heth.And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.
