John 16:1 | `These things I have spoken to you, that ye may not be stumbled, | These things have I spoken to you, that ye should not be offended. | These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended. |
John 16:2 | out of the synagogues they will put you; but an hour doth come, that every one who hath killed you, may think to offer service unto God; | They shall put you out of the synagogues: yes, the time cometh, that whoever killeth you, will think that he doeth God service. | They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God; |
John 16:3 | and these things they will do to you, because they did not know the Father, nor me. | And these things will they do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. | and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me. |
John 16:4 | `But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, ye may remember them, that I said [them] to you, and these things to you from the beginning I did not say, because I was with you; | But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not to you at the beginning, because I was with you. | But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you. |
John 16:5 | and now I go away to Him who sent me, and none of you doth ask me, Whither dost thou go? | But now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? | But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou? |
John 16:6 | but because these things I have said to you, the sorrow hath filled your heart. | But because I have said these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart. | But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. |
John 16:7 | `But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you, and if I go on, I will send Him unto you; | Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I depart; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you. | But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you. |
John 16:8 | and having come, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment; | And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: | And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: |
John 16:9 | concerning sin indeed, because they do not believe in me; | Of sin, because they believe not on me; | of sin, because they do not believe on me; |
John 16:10 | and concerning righteousness, because unto my Father I go away, and no more do ye behold me; | Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; | of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer; |
John 16:11 | and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world hath been judged. | Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. | of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. |
John 16:12 | `I have yet many things to say to you, but ye are not able to bear [them] now; | I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. | I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. |
John 16:13 | and when He may come the Spirit of truth He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you; | But, when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all the truth: for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he shall hear, that will he speak: and he will show you things to come. | But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming. |
John 16:14 | He will glorify me, because of mine He will take, and will tell to you. | He will glorify me: for he will receive of mine, and will show it to you. | He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you. |
John 16:15 | `All things, as many as the Father hath, are mine; because of this I said, That of mine He will take, and will tell to you; | All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he will take of mine, and show it to you. | All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you. |
John 16:16 | a little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go away unto the Father.` | A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. | A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father]. |
John 16:17 | Therefore said [some] of his disciples one to another, `What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away unto the Father?` | Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? | [Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father? |
John 16:18 | they said then, `What is this he saith the little while? we have not known what he saith.` | They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. | They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks. |
John 16:19 | Jesus, therefore, knew that they were wishing to ask him, and he said to them, `Concerning this do ye seek one with another, because I said, A little while, and you do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me? | Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said to them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that which I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? | Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me? |
John 16:20 | verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow joy will become. | Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice: and ye will be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. | Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy. |
John 16:21 | `The woman, when she may bear, hath sorrow, because her hour did come, and when she may bear the child, no more doth she remember the anguish, because of the joy that a man was born to the world. | A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. | A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world. |
John 16:22 | `And ye, therefore, now, indeed, have sorrow; and again I will see you, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one doth take from you, | And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. | And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you. |
John 16:23 | and in that day ye will question me nothing; verily, verily, I say to you, as many things as ye may ask of the Father in my name, He will give you; | And in that day ye will ask me nothing: Verily, verily, I say to you, Whatever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. | And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you. |
John 16:24 | till now ye did ask nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. | Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. | Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. |
John 16:25 | `These things in similitudes I have spoken to you, but there cometh an hour when no more in similitudes will I speak to you, but freely of the Father, will tell you. | These things have I spoken to you in proverbs: but the time cometh when I shall no more speak to you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly concerning the Father. | These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father. |
John 16:26 | `In that day, in my name ye will make request, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you, | At that day ye will ask in my name: and I say not to you, that I will pray the Father for you: | In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you, |
John 16:27 | for the Father himself doth love you, because me ye have loved, and ye have believed that I from God came forth; | For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God. | for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God. |
John 16:28 | I came forth from the Father, and have come to the world; again I leave the world, and go on unto the Father.` | I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. | I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father. |
John 16:29 | His disciples say to him, `Lo, now freely thou dost speak, and no similitude speakest thou; | His disciples said to him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. | His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory. |
John 16:30 | now we have known that thou hast known all things, and hast no need that any one do question thee; in this we believe that from God thou didst come forth.` | Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest from God. | Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God. |
John 16:31 | Jesus answered them, `Now do ye believe? lo, there doth come an hour, | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? | Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? |
John 16:32 | and now it hath come, that ye may be scattered, each to his own things, and me ye may leave alone, and I am not alone, because the Father is with me; | Behold, the hour cometh, and is even now come, that ye shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. | Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me. |
John 16:33 | these things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation, but take courage I have overcome the world.` | These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world. | These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world. |
