1st-Peter 5:1 | Elders who [are] among you, I exhort, who [am] a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and of the glory about to be revealed a partaker, | The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: | The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come: |
1st-Peter 5:2 | feed the flock of God that [is] among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but from a ready mind; | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily: |
1st-Peter 5:3 | neither as exercising lordship over the heritages, but patterns becoming of the flock, | Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. | Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. |
1st-Peter 5:4 | and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. | And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. | And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. |
1st-Peter 5:5 | In like manner, ye younger, be subject to elders, and all to one another subjecting yourselves; with humble-mindedness clothe yourselves, because God the proud doth resist, but to the humble He doth give grace; | Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. | In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace. |
1st-Peter 5:6 | be humbled, then, under the powerful hand of God, that you He may exalt in good time, | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: | Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation: |
1st-Peter 5:7 | all your care having cast upon Him, because He careth for you. | Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. | Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you. |
1st-Peter 5:8 | Be sober, vigilant, because your opponent the devil, as a roaring lion, doth walk about, seeking whom he may swallow up, | Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: | Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. |
1st-Peter 5:9 | whom resist, stedfast in the faith, having known the same sufferings to your brotherhood in the world to be accomplished. | Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. | Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. |
1st-Peter 5:10 | And the God of all grace, who did call you to His age-during glory in Christ Jesus, having suffered a little, Himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle [you]; | But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. | But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. |
1st-Peter 5:11 | to Him [is] the glory, and the power to the ages and the ages! Amen. | To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. | To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. |
1st-Peter 5:12 | Through Silvanus, to you the faithful brother, as I reckon, through few [words] I did write, exhorting and testifying this to be the true grace of God in which ye have stood. | By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand. | By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. |
1st-Peter 5:13 | Salute you doth the [assembly] in Babylon jointly elected, and Markus my son. | The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Mark my son. | The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark. |
1st-Peter 5:14 | Salute ye one another in a kiss of love; peace to you all who [are] in Christ Jesus! Amen. | Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen. | Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen. |
