| 1st-John 5:1 | Every one who is believing that Jesus is the Christ, of God he hath been begotten, and every one who is loving Him who did beget, doth love also him who is begotten of Him: | Whoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten by him. | Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God; and every one who loves the Father loves also Him who is the Father's Child. |
| 1st-John 5:2 | in this we know that we love the children of God, when we may love God, and His commands may keep; | By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. | The fact that we love God Himself, and obey His commands, is a proof that we love God's children. |
| 1st-John 5:3 | for this is the love of God, that His commands we may keep, and His commands are not burdensome; | For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous. | Love for God means obedience to His commands; and His commands are not irksome. |
