Acts 10:1And there was a certain man in Cesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,There was a certain man in Cesarea, called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
Acts 10:2pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave alms generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
Acts 10:3he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, `Cornelius;`He saw in a vision evidently, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius!"
Acts 10:4and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, `What is it, Lord?` And he said to him, `Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thy alms are come up for a memorial before God.He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have gone up for a memorial before God.
Acts 10:5and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:Now send men to Joppa, and get one Simon, who is surnamed Peter.
Acts 10:6this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.`He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea-side: he will tell thee what thou oughtest to do.He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside."
Acts 10:7And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,And when the angel who spoke to Cornelius had departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
Acts 10:8and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.And when he had declared all these things to them, he sent them to Joppa.Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
Acts 10:9And on the morrow, as these are proceeding on the way, and are drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour,On the morrow, as they were going on their journey, and drew nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour:Now on the next day, as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, at about noon.
Acts 10:10and he became very hungry, and wished to eat; and they making ready, there fell upon him a trance,And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,He became hungry, and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
Acts 10:11and he doth behold the heaven opened, and descending unto him a certain vessel, as a great sheet, bound at the four corners, and let down upon the earth,And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending to him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:He saw heaven opened, and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet, let down by four corners on the earth,
Acts 10:12in which were all the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven,In which were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping animals, and fowls of the air.in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
Acts 10:13and there came a voice unto him: `Having risen, Peter, slay and eat.`And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.A voice came to him, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat!"
Acts 10:14And Peter said, `Not so, Lord; because at no time did I eat anything common or unclean;`But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.But Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."
Acts 10:15and [there is] a voice again a second time unto him: `What God did cleanse, thou, declare not thou common;`And the voice spoke to him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.A voice came to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not make unholy."
Acts 10:16and this was done thrice, and again was the vessel received up to the heaven.This was done thrice: and the vessel was received again into heaven.This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.
Acts 10:17And as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision that he saw might be, then, lo, the men who have been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for the house of Simon, stood at the gate,Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and were standing before the gate,Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
Acts 10:18and having called, they were asking if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, doth lodge here?And called, and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, lodged there.and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.
Acts 10:19And Peter thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, `Lo, three men do seek thee;While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee.While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.
Acts 10:20but having risen, go down and go on with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them;`Arise therefore, and go down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."
Acts 10:21and Peter having come down unto the men who have been sent from Cornelius unto him, said, `Lo, I am he whom ye seek, what [is] the cause for which ye are present?`Then Peter went down to the men who were sent to him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause for which ye have come?Peter went down to the men, and said, "Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?"
Acts 10:22And they said, `Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, well testified to, also, by all the nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy messenger to send for thee, to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.`And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee.They said, "Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.
Acts 10:23Having called them in, therefore, he lodged them, and on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him,Then he called them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
Acts 10:24and on the morrow they did enter into Cesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kindred and near friends,And on the morrow they entered into Cesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
Acts 10:25and as it came that Peter entered in, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at [his] feet, did bow before [him];And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
Acts 10:26and Peter raised him, saying, `Stand up; I also myself am a man;`But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up: I myself also am a man.But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up! I myself am also a man."
Acts 10:27and talking with him he went in, and doth find many having come together.And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that had come together.As he talked with him, he went in, and found many come together.
Acts 10:28And he said unto them, `Ye know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did shew to call no man common or unclean;And he said to them, Ye know that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come to one of another nation; but God hath shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.He said to them, "You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn't call any man unholy or unclean.
Acts 10:29therefore also without gainsaying I came, having been sent for; I ask, therefore, for what matter ye did send for me?`Therefore I came to you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?"
Acts 10:30And Cornelius said, `Four days ago till this hour, I was fasting, and [at] the ninth hour praying in my house, and, lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,Cornelius said, "Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
Acts 10:31and he said, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy kind acts were remembered before God;And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thy alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.
Acts 10:32send, therefore, to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; this one doth lodge in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea, who having come, shall speak to thee;Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he lodgeth in the house of one Simon a tanner, by the sea-side: who, when he cometh, will speak to thee.Send therefore to Joppa, and call to you Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.'
Acts 10:33at once, therefore, I sent to thee; thou also didst do well, having come; now, therefore, are we all before God present to hear all things that have been commanded thee by God.`Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou hast come. Now therefore we are all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee from God.Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God."
Acts 10:34And Peter having opened his mouth, said, `Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, In truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism,
Acts 10:35but in every nation he who is fearing Him, and is working righteousness, is acceptable to Him;But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.but in every nation he who fears him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to him.
Acts 10:36the word that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming good news peace through Jesus Christ (this one is Lord of all,)The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all):
Acts 10:37ye ye have known; the word that came throughout all Judea, having begun from Galilee, after the baptism that John preached;That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;that spoken word you yourselves know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Acts 10:38Jesus who [is] from Nazareth how God did anoint him with the Holy Spirit and power; who went through, doing good, and healing all those oppressed by the devil, because God was with him;That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.
Acts 10:39and we we are witnesses of all things that he did, both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, whom they did slay, having hanged upon a tree.And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree.We are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
Acts 10:40`This one God did raise up the third day, and gave him to become manifest,Him God raised the third day, and showed him openly;God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,
Acts 10:41not to all the people, but to witnesses, to those having been chosen before by God to us who did eat with [him], and did drink with him, after his rising out of the dead;Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Acts 10:42and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify fully that it is he who hath been ordained by God judge of living and deadAnd he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the living and the dead.He charged us to preach to the people, and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
Acts 10:43to this one do all the prophets testify, that through his name every one that is believing in him doth receive remission of sins.`To him give all the prophets testimony, that through his name whoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins."
Acts 10:44While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word,While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them who heard the word.While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
Acts 10:45and those of the circumcision believing were astonished as many as came with Peter because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out,And they of the circumcision who believed, were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit.They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
Acts 10:46for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.For they heard them speak in languages and magnify God. Then answered Peter,For they heard them speak with other languages, and magnify God. Then Peter answered,
Acts 10:47Then answered Peter, `The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive even as also we?`Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?"Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized,?"
Acts 10:48he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they requested him to tarry certain days.He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.
