| Hebrews 5:1 | For every chief priest out of men taken in behalf of men is set in things [pertaining] to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins, | For every high priest taken from among men, is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: | For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. |
| Hebrews 5:2 | able to be gentle to those ignorant and going astray, since himself also is compassed with infirmity; | Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. | The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness. |
