Luke 4:3and the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.`And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
Luke 4:4And Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.`And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.Jesus answered him, saying,"It is written, 'Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'"
Luke 4:5And the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited world in a moment of time.
Luke 4:6and the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.
Luke 4:7thou, then, if thou mayest bow before me all shall be thine.`If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours."
Luke 4:8And Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.`And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.Jesus answered him, "Get behind me Satan! For it is written, 'You will worship the Lord your God, and him only will you serve.'"
Luke 4:9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence.He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,
Luke 4:10for it hath been written To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:for it is written, 'He will give his angels charge concerning you, to guard you;'
Luke 4:11and On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.`And in their hands they will bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, Lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.'"
Luke 4:12And Jesus answering said to him `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.`And Jesus answering, said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.Jesus answering, said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'"
Luke 4:13And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for awhile.
Luke 4:14And Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the surrounding region.Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.

Luke 4:18`The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, Because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to the captives, Recovering of sight to the blind, To deliver those who are crushed,
Luke 4:19To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.`To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.And to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
Luke 4:20And having folded the roll, having given [it] back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luke 4:21And he began to say unto them `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;`And he began to say to them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.He began to tell them, "Today, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
Luke 4:22and all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?`And all bore him testimony, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?All testified about him, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Isn't this Joseph's son?"
Luke 4:23And he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;`And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, 'Physician, heal yourself. Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.'"
Luke 4:24and he said, `Verily I say to you No prophet is accepted in his own country;And he said, Verily I say to you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.He said, "Most assuredly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.
Luke 4:25and of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,But I tell you in truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut three years and six months when great famine was throughout all the land:But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.
Luke 4:26and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;But to none of them was Elijah sent, save to Sarepta, a city of Sidon, to a woman that was a widow.Elijah was sent to none of them, except only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
Luke 4:27and many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian.`And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian."
Luke 4:28And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things;
Luke 4:29and having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built to cast him down headlong,And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.and they rose up, and threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.

Luke 4:34saying, `Away, what to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art the Holy One of God.`Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.saying, "Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!"
Luke 4:35And Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;` and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.
Luke 4:36and amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What [is] this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?`And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!"
Luke 4:37and there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.And the fame of him went out into every place of the surrounding country.News about him went forth into every place of the surrounding region.
Luke 4:38And having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And the mother of Simon's wife was taken with a violent fever; and they besought him for her.He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him for her.
Luke 4:39and having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered to them.He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and ministered to them.
Luke 4:40And at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them [his] hands having put, did heal them.Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
Luke 4:41And demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;` and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them, suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, "You are the Christ, the Son of God!" Rebuking them, he didn't allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
Luke 4:42And day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him not to go on from them,And when it was day, he departed, and went into a desert place; and the people sought him, and came to him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.When it was day, he came out and went into an uninhabited place, and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn't go away from them.
Luke 4:43and he said unto them `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;`And he said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, for therefore am I sent.But he said to them, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for this reason I have been sent."
Luke 4:44and he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
