| Galatians 4:1 | And I say, so long time as the heir is a babe, he differeth nothing from a servant being lord of all, | Now I say that so long as an heir is a child, he in no respect differs from a slave, although he is the owner of everything, | But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a bondservant though he is lord of all; |
| Galatians 4:2 | but is under tutors and stewards till the time appointed of the father, | but he is under the control of guardians and trustees until the time his father has appointed. | but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed of the father. |
| Galatians 4:3 | so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude, | So we also, when spiritually we were children, were subject to the world's rudimentary notions, and were enslaved. | So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world: |

| Galatians 4:14 | and my trial that [is] in my flesh ye did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger of God ye did receive me as Christ Jesus; | and yet the bodily infirmity which was such a trial to you, you did not regard with contempt or loathing, but you received me as if I had been an angel of God or Christ Jesus Himself! | and that which was a temptation to you in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but ye received me as an angel of God, [even] as Christ Jesus. |
| Galatians 4:15 | what then was your happiness? for I testify to you, that if possible, your eyes having plucked out, ye would have given to me; | I ask you, then, what has become of your self-congratulations? For I bear you witness that had it been possible you would have torn out your own eyes and have given them to me. | Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. |
| Galatians 4:16 | so that your enemy have I become, being true to you? | Can it be that I have become your enemy through speaking the truth to you? | So then am I become your enemy, by telling you the truth? |
| Galatians 4:17 | they are zealous for you [yet] not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them ye may be zealous; | These men pay court to you, but not with honourable motives. They want to exclude you, so that you may pay court to them. | They zealously seek you in no good way; nay, they desire to shut you out, that ye may seek them. |
| Galatians 4:18 | and [it is] good to be zealously regarded, in what is good, at all times, and not only in my being present with you; | It is always an honourable thing to be courted in an honourable cause; always, and not only when I am with you, my children | But it is good to be zealously sought in a good matter at all times, and not only when I am present with you. |
| Galatians 4:19 | my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you, | you for whom I am again, as it were, undergoing the pains of childbirth, until Christ is fully formed within you. | My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you-- |
| Galatians 4:20 | and I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice, because I am in doubt about you. | Would that I were with you and could change my tone, for I am perplexed about you. | but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone; for I am perplexed about you. |
| Galatians 4:21 | Tell me, ye who are willing to be under law, the law do ye not hear? | Tell me you who want to continue to be subject to Law will you not listen to the Law? | Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? |
| Galatians 4:22 | for it hath been written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the maid-servant, and one by the free-woman, | For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave-girl and one by the free woman. | For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaid, and one by the freewoman. |
| Galatians 4:23 | but he who [is] of the maid-servant, according to flesh hath been, and he who [is] of the free-woman, through the promise; | But we see that the child of the slave-girl was born in the common course of nature; but the child of the free woman in fulfilment of the promise. | Howbeit the [son] by the handmaid is born after the flesh; but the [son] by the freewoman [is born] through promise. |
| Galatians 4:24 | which things are allegorized, for these are the two covenants: one, indeed, from mount Sinai, to servitude bringing forth, which is Hagar; | All this is allegorical; for the women represent two Covenants. One has its origin on Mount Sinai, and bears children destined for slavery. | Which things contain an allegory: for these [women] are two covenants; one from mount Sinai, bearing children unto bondage, which is Hagar. |
| Galatians 4:25 | for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children, | This is Hagar; for the name Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, which is in bondage together with her children. | Now this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia and answereth to the Jerusalem that now is: for she is in bondage with her children. |

For the desolate woman has many children more indeed than she who has the husband." | For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; Break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: For more are the children of the desolate than of her that hath the husband. |

| Galatians 4:29 | but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now; | Yet just as, at that time, the child born in the common course of nature persecuted the one whose birth was due to the power of the Spirit, so it is now. | But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, so also it is now. |
| Galatians 4:30 | but what saith the Writing? `Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;` | But what says the Scripture? "Send away the slave-girl and her son, for never shall the slave-girl's son share the inheritance with the son of the free woman." | Howbeit what saith the scripture? Cast out the handmaid and her son: for the son of the handmaid shall not inherit with the son of the freewoman. |
| Galatians 4:31 | then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant`s children, but the free-woman`s. | Therefore, brethren, since we are not the children of a slave-girl, but of the free woman | Wherefore, brethren, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the freewoman. |
