Philippians 1:1Paul and Timotheus, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with overseers and ministrants;Paul and Timothy, bondservants of Christ Jesus: To all God's people in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the ministers of the Church and their assistants.Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus that are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Philippians 1:2Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:3I give thanks to my God upon all the remembrance of you,I thank my God at my every remembrance of youI thank my God upon all my remembrance of you,
Philippians 1:4always, in every supplication of mine for you all, with joy making the supplication,always when offering any prayer on behalf of you all, finding a joy in offering it.always in every supplication of mine on behalf of you all making my supplication with joy,
Philippians 1:5for your contribution to the good news from the first day till now,I thank my God, I say, for your cooperation in spreading the Good News, from the time it first came to you even until now.for your fellowship in furtherance of the gospel from the first day until now;
Philippians 1:6having been confident of this very thing, that He who did begin in you a good work, will perform [it] till a day of Jesus Christ,For of this I am confident, that He who has begun a good work within you will go on to perfect it in preparation for the day of Jesus Christ.being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:7according as it is righteous for me to think this in behalf of you all, because of my having you in the heart, both in my bonds, and [in] the defence and confirmation of the good news, all of you being fellow-partakers with me of grace.And I am justified in having this confidence about you all, because, both during my imprisonment and when I stand up in defence of the Good News or to confirm its truth, I have you in my heart, sharers as you all are in the same grace as myself.even as it is right for me to be thus minded on behalf of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as, both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers with me of grace.
Philippians 1:8For God is my witness, how I long for you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ,For God is my witness how I yearn over all of you with tender Christian affection.For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:9and this I pray, that your love yet more and more may abound in full knowledge, and all judgment,And it is my prayer that your love may be more and more accompanied by clear knowledge and keen perception, for testing things that differ,And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;
Philippians 1:10for your proving the things that differ, that ye may be pure and offenceless to a day of Christ,so that you may be men of transparent character, and may be blameless, in preparation for the day of Christ,so that ye may approve the things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and void of offence unto the day of Christ;
Philippians 1:11being filled with the fruit of righteousness, that [is] through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.being filled with these fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:12And I wish you to know, brethren, that the things concerning me, rather to an advancement of the good news have come,Now I would have you know, brethren, that what I have gone through has turned out to the furtherance of the Good News rather than otherwise.Now I would have you know, brethren, that the things [which happened] unto me have fallen out rather unto the progress of the gospel;
Philippians 1:13so that my bonds have become manifest in Christ in the whole praetorium, and to the other places all,And thus it has become notorious among all the Imperial Guards, and everywhere, that it is for the sake of Christ that I am a prisoner;so that my bonds became manifest in Christ throughout the whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest;
Philippians 1:14and the greater part of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence by my bonds, are more abundantly bold fearlessly to speak the word.and the greater part of the brethren, made confident in the Lord through my imprisonment, now speak of God's Message without fear, more boldly than ever.and that most of the brethren in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.
Philippians 1:15Certain, indeed, even through envy and contention, and certain also through good-will, do preach the Christ;Some indeed actually preach Christ out of envy and contentiousness but there are also others who do it from good will.Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Philippians 1:16the one, indeed, of rivalry the Christ do proclaim, not purely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds,These latter preach Him from love to me, knowing that I am here for the defence of the Good News;the one [do it] of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel;
Philippians 1:17and the other out of love, having known that for defence of the good news I am set:while the others proclaim Him from motives of rivalry, and insincerely, supposing that by this they are embittering my imprisonment.but the other proclaim Christ of faction, not sincerely, thinking to raise up affliction for me in my bonds.
Philippians 1:18what then? in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is proclaimed and in this I rejoice, yea, and shall rejoice.What does it matter, however? In any case Christ is preached either perversely or in honest truth; and in that I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.What then? only that in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and therein I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Philippians 1:19For I have known that this shall fall out to me for salvation, through your supplication, and the supply of the Spirit of Christ Jesus,For I know that it will result in my salvation through your prayers and a bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,For I know that this shall turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 1:20according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, and in all freedom, as always, also now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death,in fulfilment of my eager expectation and hope that I shall never have reason to feel ashamed, but that by my perfect freedom of speech Christ will be glorified in me, now as always, either by my life or by my death.according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be put to shame, but [that] with all boldness, as always, [so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.
Philippians 1:21for to me to live [is] Christ, and to die gain.For, with me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:22And if to live in the flesh [is] to me a fruit of work, then what shall I choose? I know not;But since to live means a longer stay on earth, that implies more labour for me and not unsuccessful labour; and which I am to choose I cannot tell.But if to live in the flesh, --[if] this shall bring fruit from my work, then what I shall choose I know not.
Philippians 1:23for I am pressed by the two, having the desire to depart, and to be with Christ, for it is far better,I am in a dilemma, my earnest desire being to depart and be with Christ, for that is far, far better.But I am in a strait betwixt the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for it is very far better:
Philippians 1:24and to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account,But for your sakes it is more important that I should still remain in the body.yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake.
Philippians 1:25and of this being persuaded, I have known that I shall remain and continue with you all, to your advancement and joy of the faith,I am convinced of this, and I know that I shall remain, and shall go on working side by side with you all, to promote your progress and joy in the faith;And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, yea, and abide with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith;
Philippians 1:26that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence again to you.so that, as Christians, you may have additional reason for glorying about me as the result of my being with you again.that your glorying may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.
Philippians 1:27Only worthily of the good news of the Christ conduct ye yourselves, that, whether having come and seen you, whether being absent I may hear of the things concerning you, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul, striving together for the faith of the good news,Only let the lives you live be worthy of the Good News of the Christ, in order that, whether I come and see you or, being absent, only hear of you, I may know that you are standing fast in one spirit and with one mind, fighting shoulder to shoulder for the faith of the Good News.Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you and be absent, I may hear of your state, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the gospel;
Philippians 1:28and not terrified in anything by those opposing, which to them indeed is a token of destruction, and to you of salvation, and that from God;Never for a moment quail before your antagonists. Your fearlessness will be to them a sure token of impending destruction, but to you it will be a sure token of your salvation a token coming from God.and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God;
Philippians 1:29because to you it was granted, on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also on behalf of him to suffer;For you have had the privilege granted you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf;because to you it hath been granted in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf:
Philippians 1:30the same conflict having, such as ye saw in me, and now hear of in me.maintaining, as you do, the same kind of conflict that you once saw in me and which you still hear that I am engaged in.having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
