| Matthew 25:1 | `Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom; | "Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom. | Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom. |
| Matthew 25:2 | and five of them were prudent, and five foolish; | Five of them were foolish and five were wise. | And five of them were prudent and five foolish. |
| Matthew 25:3 | they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil; | For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil; | They that were foolish took their torches and did not take oil with them; |
| Matthew 25:4 | and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps. | but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks. | but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their torches. |
| Matthew 25:5 | `And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping, | The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep. | Now the bridegroom tarrying, they all grew heavy and slept. |
| Matthew 25:6 | and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom doth come; go ye forth to meet him. | But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!' | But in [the] middle of [the] night there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom; go forth to meet him. |

| Matthew 25:9 | and the prudent answered, saying Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves. | "`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.' | But the prudent answered saying, [We cannot,] lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves. |
| Matthew 25:10 | `And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut; | "So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. | But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. |

| Matthew 25:12 | and he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you. | "`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.' | but he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I do not know you. |
| Matthew 25:13 | `Watch therefore, for ye have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man doth come. | "Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour. | Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour. |
| Matthew 25:14 | `For as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance, | "Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care. | For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance. |
| Matthew 25:15 | and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately. | To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home. | And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country. |

| Matthew 25:19 | `And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them; | "After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them. | And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them. |
| Matthew 25:20 | and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them. | The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.' | And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them. |
| Matthew 25:21 | `And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord. | "`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.' | His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord. |

| Matthew 25:24 | `And he also who hath received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew thee, that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering from whence thou didst not scatter; | "But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed. | And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered, |
| Matthew 25:25 | and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid thy talent in the earth; lo, thou hast thine own! | So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.' | and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine. |
| Matthew 25:26 | `And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, thou hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather whence I did not scatter! | "`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed? | And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered; |
| Matthew 25:27 | it behoved thee then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase. | Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest. | thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest. |
| Matthew 25:28 | `Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents, | So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.' | Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents: |
| Matthew 25:29 | for to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he hath shall be taken from him; | (For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.) | for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him. |
