Matthew 25:1`Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;"Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom.Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2and five of them were prudent, and five foolish;Five of them were foolish and five were wise.And five of them were prudent and five foolish.
Matthew 25:3they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil;They that were foolish took their torches and did not take oil with them;
Matthew 25:4and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks.but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their torches.
Matthew 25:5`And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping,The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep.Now the bridegroom tarrying, they all grew heavy and slept.
Matthew 25:6and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom doth come; go ye forth to meet him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'But in [the] middle of [the] night there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom; go forth to meet him.
Matthew 25:7`Then rose all those virgins, and trimmed their lamps,"Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches.Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their torches.
Matthew 25:8and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;"`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.
Matthew 25:9and the prudent answered, saying Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'But the prudent answered saying, [We cannot,] lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10`And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut;"So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut.But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11and afterwards come also do the rest of the virgins, saying, Sir, sir, open to us;"Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'Afterwards come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us;
Matthew 25:12and he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'but he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I do not know you.
Matthew 25:13`Watch therefore, for ye have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man doth come."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.
Matthew 25:14`For as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,"Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care.For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance.
Matthew 25:15and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home.And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country.
Matthew 25:16`And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more.And he that had received the five talents went and trafficked with them, and made five other talents.
Matthew 25:17in like manner also he who [received] the two, he gained, also he, other two;In the same way he who had the two gained two more.In like manner also he that [had received] the two, [he also] gained two others.
Matthew 25:18and he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord`s money.But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money.But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his lord.
Matthew 25:19`And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them;"After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them.And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them.
Matthew 25:20and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them.The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them.
Matthew 25:21`And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:22`And he who also did receive the two talents having come, said, Sir, two talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other two talents I did gain besides them."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'And he also that had received the two talents came to [him] and said, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.
Matthew 25:23`His lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:24`And he also who hath received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew thee, that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering from whence thou didst not scatter;"But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed.And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered,
Matthew 25:25and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid thy talent in the earth; lo, thou hast thine own!So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine.
Matthew 25:26`And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, thou hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather whence I did not scatter!"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed?And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered;
Matthew 25:27it behoved thee then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest.
Matthew 25:28`Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents:
Matthew 25:29for to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he hath shall be taken from him;(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.
Matthew 25:30and the unprofitable servant cast ye forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'And cast out the useless bondman into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:31`And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory;"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit down upon his throne of glory,
Matthew 25:32and gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd doth separate the sheep from the goats,and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;and all the nations shall be gathered before him; and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
Matthew 25:33and he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left.and he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on [his] left.
Matthew 25:34`Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come ye, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that hath been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world's foundation:
Matthew 25:35for I did hunger, and ye gave me to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye received me;For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome;for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
Matthew 25:36naked, and ye put around me; I was infirm, and ye looked after me; in prison I was, and ye came unto me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me.
Matthew 25:37`Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, and we nourished? or thirsting, and we gave to drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink?Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink?
Matthew 25:38and when did we see thee a stranger, and we received? or naked, and we put around?When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee?and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee?
Matthew 25:39and when did we see thee infirm, or in prison, and we came unto thee?When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee?
Matthew 25:40`And the king answering, shall say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] to one of these my brethren the least to me ye did [it]."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.
Matthew 25:41Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels.Then shall he say also to those on the left, Go from me, cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:42for I did hunger, and ye gave me not to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me not to drink;For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink;for I hungered, and ye gave me not to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me not to drink;
Matthew 25:43a stranger I was, and ye did not receive me; naked, and ye put not around me; infirm, and in prison, and ye did not look after me.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe me; ill, and in prison, and ye did not visit me.
Matthew 25:44`Then shall they answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in prison, and we did not minister to thee?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'Then shall *they* also answer saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or ill, or in prison, and have not ministered to thee?
Matthew 25:45`Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of these, the least, ye did [it] not to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'Then shall he answer them saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have not done it to one of these least, neither have ye done it to me.
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.`"And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."And these shall go away into eternal punishment, and the righteous into life eternal.
