Matthew 28:1 | And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre, | After the Sabbath, in the early dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary came to see the sepulchre. | Now late on sabbath, as it was the dusk of the next day after sabbath, came Mary of Magdala and the other Mary to look at the sepulchre. |
Matthew 28:2 | and lo, there came a great earthquake, for a messenger of the Lord, having come down out of heaven, having come, did roll away the stone from the door, and was sitting upon it, | But to their amazement there had been a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord had descended from Heaven, and had come and rolled back the stone, and was sitting upon it. | And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of [the] Lord, descending out of heaven, came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. |
Matthew 28:3 | and his countenance was as lightning, and his clothing white as snow, | His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. | And his look was as lightning, and his clothing white as snow. |

Matthew 28:5 | And the messenger answering said to the women, `Fear not ye, for I have known that Jesus, who hath been crucified, ye seek; | But the angel said to the women, "As for you, dismiss your fears. I know that it is Jesus that you are looking for the crucified One. | And the angel answering said to the women, Fear not *ye*, for I know that ye seek Jesus the crucified one. |
Matthew 28:6 | he is not here, for he rose, as he said; come, see the place where the Lord was lying; | He is not here: He has come back to life, as He foretold. Come and see the place where He lay. | He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. |
Matthew 28:7 | and having gone quickly, say ye to his disciples, that he rose from the dead; and lo, he doth go before you to Galilee, there ye shall see him; lo, I have told you.` | And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead and is going before you into Galilee: there you shall see Him. Remember, I have told you." | And go quickly and say to his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and behold, he goes before you into Galilee, there shall ye see him. Behold, I have told you. |
Matthew 28:8 | And having gone forth quickly from the tomb, with fear and great joy, they ran to tell to his disciples; | They quickly left the tomb and ran, still terrified but full of unspeakable joy, to carry the news to His disciples. | And going out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to bring his disciples word. |
Matthew 28:9 | and as they were going to tell to his disciples, then lo, Jesus met them, saying, `Hail!` and they having come near, laid hold of his feet, and did bow to him. | And then suddenly they saw Jesus coming to meet them. "Peace be to you," He said. And they came and clasped His feet, bowing to the ground before Him. | And as they went to bring his disciples word, behold also, Jesus met them, saying, Hail! And they coming up took him by the feet, and did him homage. |
Matthew 28:10 | Then saith Jesus to them, `Fear ye not, go away, tell to my brethren that they may go away to Galilee, and there they shall see me.` | Then He said, "Dismiss all fear! Go and take word to my brethren to go into Galilee, and there they shall see me." | Then Jesus says to them, Fear not; go, bring word to my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there they shall see me. |
Matthew 28:11 | And while they are going on, lo, certain of the watch having come to the city, told to the chief priests all the things that happened, | While they went on this errand, some of the guards came into the city and reported to the High Priests every detail of what had happened. | And as they went, behold, some of the watch went into the city, and brought word to the chief priests of all that had taken place. |
Matthew 28:12 | and having been gathered together with the elders, counsel also having taken, they gave much money to the soldiers, | So the latter held a conference with the Elders, and after consultation with them they heavily bribed the soldiers, | And having assembled with the elders, and having taken counsel, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, |
Matthew 28:13 | saying, `Say ye, that his disciples having come by night, stole him we being asleep; | telling them to say, "His disciples came during the night and stole his body while we were asleep." | saying, Say that his disciples coming by night stole him [while] we [were] sleeping. |
Matthew 28:14 | and if this be heard by the governor, we will persuade him, and you keep free from anxiety.` | "And if this," they added, "is reported to the Governor, we will satisfy him and screen you from punishment." | And if this should come to the hearing of the governor, *we* will persuade him, and save *you* from all anxiety. |
Matthew 28:15 | And they, having received the money, did as they were taught, and this account was spread abroad among Jews till this day. | So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this story was noised about among the Jews, and is current to this day. | And they took the money and did as they had been taught. And this report is current among the Jews until this day. |
Matthew 28:16 | And the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mount where Jesus appointed them, | As for the eleven disciples, they proceeded into Galilee, to the hill where Jesus had arranged to meet them. | But the eleven disciples went into Galilee to the mountain which Jesus had appointed them. |
Matthew 28:17 | and having seen him, they bowed to him, but some did waver. | There they saw Him and prostrated themselves before Him. Yet some doubted. | And when they saw him, they did homage to him: but some doubted. |
Matthew 28:18 | And having come near, Jesus spake to them, saying, `Given to me was all authority in heaven and on earth; | Jesus however came near and said to them, "All power in Heaven and over the earth has been given to me. | And Jesus coming up spoke to them, saying, All power has been given me in heaven and upon earth. |
Matthew 28:19 | having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, | Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations; baptize them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; | Go [therefore] and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; |
Matthew 28:20 | teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days till the full end of the age.` | and teach them to obey every command which I have given you.
