| Matthew 16:1 | And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, did question him, to shew to them a sign from the heaven, | Here the Pharisees and Sadducees came to Him; and, to make trial of Him, they asked Him to show them a sign in the sky. | And there came to him the Pharisees and Sadduccees tempting: and they asked him to shew them a sign from heaven. |
| Matthew 16:2 | and he answering said to them, `Evening having come, ye say, Fair weather, for the heaven is red, | He replied, "In the evening you say, `It will be fine weather, for the sky is red;' | But he answered and said to them: When it is evening, you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red. |
| Matthew 16:3 | and at morning, Foul weather to-day, for the heaven is red gloomy; hypocrites, the face of the heavens indeed ye do know to discern, but the signs of the times ye are not able! | and in the morning, `It will be rough weather to-day, for the sky is red and murky.' You learn how to distinguish the aspect of the heavens, but the signs of the times you cannot. | And in the morning: To day there will be a storm, for the sky is red and lowering. You know then how to discern the face of the sky: and can you not know the signs of the times? |
| Matthew 16:4 | `A generation evil and adulterous doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;` and having left them he went away. | A wicked and faithless generation are eager for a sign; but none shall be given to them except the sign of Jonah." and He left them and went away. | A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. | Matthew 16:18 | `And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it; | And I declare to you that you are Peter, and that upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the might of Hades shall not triumph over it. | And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. |
