Hebrews 13:1 | Let brotherly love remain; | Let brotherly love always continue. | Let brotherly love continue. |
Hebrews 13:2 | of the hospitality be not forgetful, for through this unawares certain did entertain messengers; | Do not neglect to show kindness to strangers; for, in this way, some, without knowing it, have had angels as their guests. | Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. |
Hebrews 13:3 | be mindful of those in bonds, as having been bound with them, of those maltreated, as also yourselves being in the body; | Remember prisoners, as if you were in prison with them; and remember those suffering ill-treatment, for you yourselves also are still in the body. | Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. |
Hebrews 13:4 | honourable [is] the marriage in all, and the bed undefiled, and whoremongers and adulterers God shall judge. | Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be unpolluted; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. | Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. |
Hebrews 13:5 | Without covetousness the behaviour, being content with the things present, for He hath said, `No, I will not leave, no, nor forsake thee,` | Your lives should be untainted by love for money. Be content with what you have; for God Himself has said, "I will never, never let go your hand: I will never never forsake you." | Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. |
Hebrews 13:6 | so that we do boldly say, `The Lord [is] to me a helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.` | So that we fearlessly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid: what can man do to me?" | So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. |
Hebrews 13:7 | Be mindful of those leading you, who did speak to you the word of God, whose faith considering the issue of the behaviour be imitating, | Remember your former leaders it was they who brought you God's Message. Bear in mind how they ended their lives, and imitate their faith. | Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. |
Hebrews 13:8 | Jesus Christ yesterday and to-day the same, and to the ages; | Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day yes, and to the ages to come. | Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. |
Hebrews 13:9 | with teachings manifold and strange be not carried about, for [it is] good that by grace the heart be confirmed, not with meats, in which they who were occupied were not profited; | Do not be drawn aside by all sorts of strange teaching; for it is well to have the heart made stedfast through God's grace, and not by special kinds of food, from which those who scrupulously attend to them have derived no benefit. | Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. |
Hebrews 13:10 | we have an altar, of which to eat they have no authority who the tabernacle are serving, | We Christians have an altar from which the ministers of the Jewish Tent have no right to eat. | We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. |
Hebrews 13:11 | for of those beasts whose blood is brought for sin into the holy places through the chief priest of these the bodies are burned without the camp. | For the bodies of those animals of which the blood is carried by the High Priest into the Holy place as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. | For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. |
Hebrews 13:12 | Wherefore, also Jesus that he might sanctify through [his] own blood the people without the gate did suffer; | And for this reason Jesus also, in order, by His own blood, to set the people free from sin, suffered outside the gate. | Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. |
Hebrews 13:13 | now, then, may we go forth unto him without the camp, his reproach bearing; | Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, sharing the insults directed against Him. | Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. |
Hebrews 13:14 | for we have not here an abiding city, but the coming one we seek; | For we have no permanent city here, but we are longing for the city which is soon to be ours. | For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. |
Hebrews 13:15 | through him, then, we may offer up a sacrifice of praise always to God, that is, the fruit of lips, giving thanks to His name; | Through Him, then, let us continually lay on the altar a sacrifice of praise to God, namely, the utterance of lips that give thanks to His Name. | By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. |
Hebrews 13:16 | and of doing good, and of fellowship, be not forgetful, for with such sacrifices God is well-pleased. | And do not forget to be kind and liberal; for with sacrifices of that sort God is greatly pleased. | But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. |
Hebrews 13:17 | Be obedient to those leading you, and be subject, for these do watch for your souls, as about to give account, that with joy they may do this, and not sighing, for this [is] unprofitable to you. | Obey your leaders and be submissive to them. For they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will have to give account; that they may do this with joy and not with lamentation. For that would be of no advantage to you. | Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. |
Hebrews 13:18 | Pray for us, for we trust that we have a good conscience, in all things willing to behave well, | Keep on praying for us; for we are sure that we have clear consciences, and we desire to live nobly in every respect. | Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. |
Hebrews 13:19 | and more abundantly do I call upon [you] to do this, that more quickly I may be restored to you. | I specially urge this upon you in order that I may be the more speedily restored to you. | But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
Hebrews 13:20 | And the God of the peace, who did bring up out of the dead the great shepherd of the sheep in the blood of an age-during covenant our Lord Jesus, | Now may God who gives peace, and brought Jesus, our Lord, up again from among the dead even Him who, by virtue of the blood of the eternal Covenant, is the great Shepherd of the sheep | Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, |
Hebrews 13:21 | make you perfect in every good work to do His will, doing in you that which is well-pleasing before Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom [is] the glory to the ages of the ages! Amen. | fully equip you with every grace that you may need for the doing of His will, producing in us that which will truly please Him through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory to the Ages of the Ages! Amen. | Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
Hebrews 13:22 | And I entreat you, brethren, suffer the word of the exhortation, for also through few words I have written to you. | Bear with me, brethren, when I thus exhort you; for, in fact, it is but a short letter that I have written to you. | And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. |
Hebrews 13:23 | Know ye that the brother Timotheus is released, with whom, if he may come more shortly, I will see you. | You will rejoice to hear that our brother Timothy has been set at liberty. If he comes soon, I will see you with him. | Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. |
Hebrews 13:24 | Salute all those leading you, and all the saints; salute you doth those from Italy: | Greet all your leaders and all God's people. The brethren from Italy send you greetings. | Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. |
Hebrews 13:25 | the grace [is] with you all! Amen. | Grace be with you all! Amen. | Grace be with you all. Amen. |
