Titus 2:1And thou be speaking what doth become the sound teaching;But as for you, you must speak in a manner that befits wholesome teaching.But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
Titus 2:2aged men to be temperate, grave, sober, sound in the faith, in the love, in the endurance;Exhort aged men to be temperate, grave, sober-minded, robust in their faith, their love and their patience.That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Titus 2:3aged women, in like manner, in deportment as doth become sacred persons, not false accusers, to much wine not enslaved, of good things teachers,In the same way exhort aged women to let their conduct be such as becomes consecrated persons. They must not be slanderers nor enslaved to wine-drinking. They must be teachers of what is right.The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Titus 2:4that they may make the young women sober-minded, to be lovers of [their] husbands, lovers of [their] children,They should school the young women to be affectionate to their husbands and to their children, to be sober-minded, pure in their lives,That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Titus 2:5sober, pure, keepers of [their own] houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.industrious in their homes, kind, submissive to their husbands, so that the Christian teaching may not be exposed to reproach.To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:6The younger men, in like manner, be exhorting to be sober-minded;In the same way exhort the younger men to be discreet,Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
Titus 2:7concerning all things thyself showing a pattern of good works; in the teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, incorruptibility,and above all make your own life a pattern of right conduct, having in your teaching no taint of insincerity, but a serious tone,In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
Titus 2:8discourse sound, irreprehensible, that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you.and healthy language which no one can censure, so that our opponents may feel ashamed at having nothing evil to say against us.Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
Titus 2:9Servants to their own masters [are] to be subject, in all things to be well-pleasing, not gainsaying,Exhort slaves to be always obedient to their owners, and to give them satisfaction in everything, not contradicting and not pilfering,Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
Titus 2:10not purloining, but showing all good stedfastness, that the teaching of God our Saviour they may adorn in all things.but manifesting perfect fidelity and kind feeling, in order to bring honour to the teaching of our Saviour, God, in all things.Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
Titus 2:11For the saving grace of God was manifested to all men,For the grace of God has displayed itself with healing power to all mankind,For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12teaching us, that denying the impiety and the worldly desires, soberly and righteously and piously we may live in the present age,training us to renounce ungodliness and all the pleasures of this world, and to live sober, upright, and pious lives at the present time,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Titus 2:13waiting for the blessed hope and manifestation of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ,in expectation of the fulfilment of our blessed hope the Appearing in glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:14who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;who gave Himself for us to purchase our freedom from all iniquity, and purify for Himself a people who should be specially His own, zealous for doing good works.Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus 2:15these things be speaking, and exhorting, and convicting, with all charge; let no one despise thee!Thus speak, exhort, reprove, with all impressiveness. Let no one make light of your authority.These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
