The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)The World English Online Bible (WLD)
1st-John 2:1My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin: and if any one may sin, an advocate we have with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one,Dear children, I write thus to you in order that you may not sin. If any one sins, we have an Advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous; My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.
1st-John 2:2and he he is a propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world, and He is an atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
1st-John 2:3and in this we know that we have known him, if his commands we may keep; And by this we may know that we know Him if we obey His commands. This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.
1st-John 2:4he who is saying, `I have known him,` and his command is not keeping, a liar he is, and in him the truth is not;He who professes to know Him, and yet does not obey His commands, is a liar, and the truth has no place in his heart. He who says, "I know him," and doesn't keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1st-John 2:5and whoever may keep his word, truly in him the love of God hath been perfected; in this we know that in him we are.But whoever obeys His Message, in him love for God has in very deed reached perfection. By this we can know that we are in Him.But whoever keeps his word, God's love has most assuredly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:
1st-John 2:6He who is saying in him he doth remain, ought according as he walked also himself so to walk. The man who professes to be continuing in Him is himself also bound to live as He lived.he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.
1st-John 2:7Brethren, a new command I write not to you, but an old command, that ye had from the beginning the old command is the word that ye heard from the beginning; My dearly-loved friends, it is no new command that I am now giving you, but an old command which you have had from the very beginning. By the old command I mean the teaching which you have already received.Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.
1st-John 2:8again, a new command I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness doth pass away, and the true light doth now shine; And yet I *am* giving you a new command, for such it really is, so far as both He and you are concerned: because the darkness is now passing away and the light, the true light, is already beginning to shine.Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.
1st-John 2:9he who is saying, in the light he is, and his brother is hating, in the darkness he is till now;Any one who professes to be in the light and yet hates his brother man is still in darkness. He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now.
1st-John 2:10he who is loving his brother, in the light he doth remain, and a stumbling-block in him there is not;He who loves his brother man continues in the light, and his life puts no stumbling-block in the way of others. He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.
1st-John 2:11and he who is hating his brother, in the darkness he is, and in the darkness he doth walk, and he hath not known whither he doth go, because the darkness did blind his eyes. But he who hates his brother man is in darkness and is walking in darkness; and he does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes. But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
1st-John 2:12I write to you, little children, because the sins have been forgiven you through his name;I am writing to you, dear children, because for His sake your sins are forgiven you.I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
1st-John 2:13I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him who [is] from the beginning; I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the evil. I write to you, little youths, because ye have known the Father:I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the Evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father.
1st-John 2:14I did write to you, fathers, because ye have known him who [is] from the beginning; I did write to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God in you doth remain, and ye have overcome the evil.I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and God's Message still has a place in your hearts, and you have overcome the Evil one.I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
1st-John 2:15Love not ye the world, nor the things in the world; if any one doth love the world, the love of the Father is not in him,Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loves the world, there is no love in his heart for the Father.Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.
1st-John 2:16because all that [is] in the world the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life is not of the Father, but of the world,For the things in the world the cravings of the earthly nature, the cravings of the eyes, the show and pride of life they all come, not from the Father, but from the world. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's.
1st-John 2:17and the world doth pass away, and the desire of it, and he who is doing the will of God, he doth remain to the age.And the world, with its cravings, is passing away, but he who does God's will continues for ever. The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever.
1st-John 2:18Little youths, it is the last hour; and even as ye heard that the antichrist doth come, even now antichrists have become many whence we know that it is the last hour;Dear children, the last hour has come; and as you once heard that there was to be an anti-Christ, so even now many anti-Christs have appeared. By this we may know that the last hour has come.Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the end times.
1st-John 2:19out of us they went forth, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but that they might be manifested that they are not all of us.They have gone forth from our midst, but they did not really belong to us; for had they belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they left us that it might be manifest that professed believers do not all belong to us.They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.
1st-John 2:20And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and have known all things; As for you, you have an anointing from the holy One and have perfect knowledge. You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know the truth.
1st-John 2:21I did not write to you because ye have not known the truth, but because ye have known it, and because no lie is of the truth.I have written to you, not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you know it, and you know that nothing false comes from the truth.I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
1st-John 2:22Who is the liar, except he who is denying that Jesus is the Christ? this one is the antichrist who is denying the Father and the Son;Who is a liar compared with him who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He who disowns the Father and the Son is the anti-Christ.Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
1st-John 2:23every one who is denying the Son, neither hath he the Father, [he who is confessing the Son hath the Father also.]No one who disowns the Son has the Father. He who acknowledges the Son has also the Father.Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn't have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.
1st-John 2:24Ye, then, that which ye heard from the beginning, in you let it remain; if in you may remain that which from the beginning ye did hear, ye also in the Son and in the Father shall remain,As for you, let the teaching which you have received from the very beginning continue in your hearts. If that teaching does continue in your hearts, you also will continue to be in union with the Son and with the Father. Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.
1st-John 2:25and this is the promise that He did promise us the life the age-during.And this is the promise which He Himself has given us the Life of the Ages. This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.
1st-John 2:26These things I did write to you concerning those leading you astray;I have thus written to you concerning those who are leading you astray. These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray.
1st-John 2:27and you, the anointing that ye did receive from him, in you it doth remain, and ye have no need that any one may teach you, but as the same anointing doth teach you concerning all, and is true, and is not a lie, and even as was taught you, ye shall remain in him.And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains within you, and there is no need for any one to teach you. But since His anointing gives you instruction in all things and is true and is no falsehood you are continuing in union with Him even as it has taught you to do.As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.
1st-John 2:28And now, little children, remain in him, that when he may be manifested, we may have boldness, and may not be ashamed before him, in his presence; And now, dear children, continue in union with Him; so that, if He re-appears, we may have perfect confidence, and may not shrink away in shame from His presence at His Coming. Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
1st-John 2:29if ye know that he is righteous, know ye that every one doing the righteousness, of him hath been begotten.Since you know that He is righteous, be assured also that the man who habitually acts righteously is a child of His.If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.
