 The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)The World English Online Bible (WLD)
1st-Peter 3:1In like manner, the wives, be ye subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,Married women, in the same way, be submissive to your husbands, so that even if some of them disbelieve the Message, they may, apart from the Message, be won over by the daily life of their wives, after watching your daily lifeIn like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don't obey the Word, they may be gained by the behavior of their wives without a word;
1st-Peter 3:2having beheld your pure behaviour in fear,so full of reverence, and so blameless!seeing your pure behavior in fear.
1st-Peter 3:3whose adorning let it not be that which is outward, of plaiting of hair, and of putting around of things of gold, or of putting on of garments,Your adornment ought not to be a merely outward thing one of plaiting the hair, putting on jewelry, or wearing beautiful dresses.Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing;
1st-Peter 3:4but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,Instead of that, it should be a new nature within the imperishable ornament of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is indeed precious in the sight of God.but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious.
1st-Peter 3:5for thus once also the holy women who did hope on God, were adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands,For in ancient times also this was the way the holy women who set their hopes upon God used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their husbands.For this is how the holy women before, who hoped in God, also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
1st-Peter 3:6as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him `sir,` of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.Thus, for instance, Sarah obeyed Abraham, acknowledging his authority over her. And you have become Sarah's children if you do what is right and permit nothing whatever to terrify you.as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
1st-Peter 3:7The husbands, in like manner, dwelling with [them], according to knowledge, as to a weaker vessel to the wife imparting honour, as also being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.Married men, in the same way, live with your wives with a clear recognition of the fact that they are weaker than you. Yet, since you are heirs with them of God's free gift of Life, treat them with honour; so that your prayers may not be hindered.You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; not cutting off your prayers.
1st-Peter 3:8And finally, being all of one mind, having fellow-feeling, loving as brethren, compassionate, courteous,In conclusion, all of you should be of one mind, quick to sympathize, kind to the brethren, tenderhearted, lowly-minded,Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous,
1st-Peter 3:9not giving back evil for evil, or railing for railing, and on the contrary, blessing, having known that to this ye were called, that a blessing ye may inherit;not requiting evil with evil nor abuse with abuse, but, on the contrary, giving a blessing in return, because a blessing is what you have been called by God to inherit.not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; knowing that to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
1st-Peter 3:10for `he who is willing to love life, and to see good days, let him guard his tongue from evil, and his lips not to speak guile;For "He who wishes to be well-satisfied with life and see happy days let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from deceitful words;For, "He who would love life, And see good days, Let him keep his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
1st-Peter 3:11let him turn aside from evil, and do good, let him seek peace and pursue it;Let him turn from evil, and do good; Let him inquire for peace and go in pursuit of it.Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
1st-Peter 3:12because the eyes of the Lord [are] upon the righteous, and His ears to their supplication, and the face of the Lord [is] upon those doing evil;`For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their supplication; but the face of the Lord is set against evil-doers."For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And his ears open to their prayer; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
1st-Peter 3:13and who [is] he who will be doing you evil, if of Him who is good ye may become imitators?And who will be able to harm you, if you show yourselves zealous for that which is good?Now who is he who will harm you, if you become imitators of that which is good?
1st-Peter 3:14but if ye also should suffer because of righteousness, happy [are ye]! and of their fear be not afraid, nor be troubled,But even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are to be envied. So do not be alarmed by their threats, nor troubled;But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "Don't fear what they fear, neither be troubled."
1st-Peter 3:15and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And [be] ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that [is] in you, with meekness and fear;but in your hearts consecrate Christ as Lord, being always ready to make your defence to any one who asks from you a reason for the hope which you cherish.But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear:
1st-Peter 3:16having a good conscience, that in that in which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may be ashamed who are traducing your good behaviour in Christ;Yet argue modestly and cautiously, keeping your consciences free from guilt, so that, when you are spoken against, those who slander your good Christian lives may be put to shame.having a good conscience; that, while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.
1st-Peter 3:17for [it is] better doing good, if the will of God will it, to suffer, than doing evil;For it is better that you should suffer for doing right, if such be God's will, than for doing evil;For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
1st-Peter 3:18because also Christ once for sin did suffer righteous for unrighteous that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit,because Christ also once for all died for sins, the innocent One for the guilty many, in order to bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
1st-Peter 3:19in which also to the spirits in prison having gone he did preach,in which He also went and proclaimed His Message to the spirits that were in prison,in which he also went and preached to the spirits in prison,
1st-Peter 3:20who sometime disbelieved, when once the long-suffering of God did wait, in days of Noah an ark being preparing in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;who in ancient times had been disobedient, while God's longsuffering was patiently waiting in the days of Noah during the building of the Ark, in which a few persons eight in number were brought safely through the water.who before were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
1st-Peter 3:21also to which an antitype doth now save us baptism, (not a putting away of the filth of flesh, but the question of a good conscience in regard to God,) through the rising again of Jesus Christ,And, corresponding to that figure, the water of baptism now saves you not the washing off of material defilement, but the craving of a good conscience after God through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you - not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
1st-Peter 3:22who is at the right hand of God, having gone on to heaven messengers, and authorities, and powers, having been subjected to him.who is at God's right hand, having gone into Heaven, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
