Mark 10:1And having risen thence, he doth come to the coasts of Judea, through the other side of the Jordan, and again do multitudes come together unto him, and, as he had been accustomed, again he was teaching them.He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he taught them again.And he got up, and went into the country of Judaea on the other side of Jordan: and great numbers of people came together to him again; and, as was his way, he gave them teaching.
Mark 10:2And the Pharisees, having come near, questioned him, if it is lawful for a husband to put away a wife, tempting him,There came to him Pharisees testing him, and asked him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"And Pharisees came to him, testing him with the question, Is it right for a man to put away his wife?
Mark 10:3and he answering said to them, `What did Moses command you?`He answered, "What did Moses command you?"And he said to them in answer, What did Moses say you were to do?
Mark 10:4and they said, `Moses suffered to write a bill of divorce, and to put away.`They said, "Moses allowed a bill of divorce to be written, and to divorce her."And they said to him, Moses let us give her a statement in writing, and be free from her.
Mark 10:5And Jesus answering said to them, `For the stiffness of your heart he wrote you this command,But Jesus said to them, "For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.But Jesus said to them, Because of your hard hearts he gave you this law.
Mark 10:6but from the beginning of the creation, a male and a female God did make them;But from the beginning of the creation, 'God made them male and female.But from the first, male and female made he them.
Mark 10:7on this account shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife,For this cause will a man leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,For this cause will a man go away from his father and mother, and be joined to his wife;
Mark 10:8and they shall be the two for one flesh; so that they are no more two, but one flesh;and the two will become one flesh,' so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.And the two will become one flesh; so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Mark 10:9what therefore God did join together, let not man put asunder.`What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."Let not that which has been joined together by God be parted by man.
Mark 10:10And in the house again his disciples of the same thing questioned him,In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.And in the house the disciples put questions to him again about this thing.
Mark 10:11and he saith to them, `Whoever may put away his wife, and may marry another, doth commit adultery against her;He said to them, "Whoever will divorce his wife, and marry another, commits adultery against her.And he said to them, Whoever puts away his wife and takes another, is false to his wife;
Mark 10:12and if a woman may put away her husband, and is married to another, she committeth adultery.`If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery."And if she herself puts away her husband and takes another, she is false to her husband.
Mark 10:13And they were bringing to him children, that he might touch them, and the disciples were rebuking those bringing them,They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.And they took to him little children, so that he might put his hands on them: and the disciples said sharp words to them.
Mark 10:14and Jesus having seen, was much displeased, and he said to them, `Suffer the children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the reign of God;But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, "Allow the little children to come to me! Don't forbid them, for to such belong the kingdom of God.And when Jesus saw it, he was angry, and said to them, Let the little children come to me, and do not keep them away; for of such is the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:15verily I say to you, whoever may not receive the reign of God, as a child he may not enter into it;`Most assuredly I tell you, whoever will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he will in no way enter therein."Truly I say to you, Whoever does not put himself under the kingdom of God like a little child, will not come into it at all.
Mark 10:16and having taken them in his arms, having put [his] hands upon them, he was blessing them.He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.And he took them in his arms, and gave them a blessing, putting his hands on them.
Mark 10:17And as he is going forth into the way, one having run and having kneeled to him, was questioning him, `Good teacher, what may I do, that life age-during I may inherit?`As he was going forth into the way, one ran to him, kneeled to him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?"And while he was going out into the way, a man came running to him, and went down on his knees, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life?
Mark 10:18And Jesus said to him, `Why me dost thou call good? no one [is] good except One God;Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except one God.And Jesus said to him, Why do you say I am good? no one is good but one, and that is God.
Mark 10:19the commands thou hast known: Thou mayest not commit adultery, Thou mayest do no murder, Thou mayest not steal, Thou mayest not bear false witness, Thou mayest not defraud, Honour thy father and mother.`You know the commandments: 'Do not murder,' 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and mother.'"You have knowledge of what is said in the law, Do not put any one to death, Do not be untrue in married life, Do not take what is not yours, Do not give false witness, Do not get money by deceit, Give honour to your father and mother.
Mark 10:20And he answering said to him, `Teacher, all these did I keep from my youth.`He said to him, "Teacher, all these things have I observed from my youth."And he said to him, Master, all these laws I have kept from the time when I was young.
Mark 10:21And Jesus having looked upon him, did love him, and said to him, `One thing thou dost lack; go away, whatever thou hast sell, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come, be following me, having taken up the cross.`Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross."And Jesus, looking on him and loving him, said, There is one thing needed: go, get money for your goods, and give it to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven: and come with me.
Mark 10:22And he gloomy at the word went away sorrowing, for he was having many possessions.But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.But his face became sad at the saying, and he went away sorrowing: for he was one who had much property.
Mark 10:23And Jesus having looked round, saith to his disciples, `How hardly shall they who have riches enter into the reign of God!`Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, "How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!"And Jesus, looking round about, said to his disciples, How hard it is for those who have wealth to come into the kingdom of God!
Mark 10:24And the disciples were astonished at his words, and Jesus again answering saith to them, `Children, how hard is it to those trusting on the riches to enter into the reign of God!The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, "Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!And the disciples were full of wonder at his words. But Jesus said to them again, Children, how hard it is for those who put faith in wealth to come into the kingdom of God!
Mark 10:25It is easier for a camel through the eye of the needle to enter, than for a rich man to enter into the reign of God.`It is easier for a camel to go through the needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."It is simpler for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a man of wealth to come into the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:26And they were astonished beyond measure, saying unto themselves, `And who is able to be saved?`They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, "Then who can be saved?"And they were greatly surprised, saying to him, Who then may have salvation?
Mark 10:27And Jesus, having looked upon them, saith, `With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.`Jesus, looking at them, said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God."Jesus, looking on them, said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.
Mark 10:28And Peter began to say to him, `Lo, we left all, and we followed thee.`Peter began to tell him, "Behold, we have left all, and have followed you."Peter said to him, See, we have given up everything, and come after you.
Mark 10:29And Jesus answering said, `Verily I say to you, there is no one who left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or fields, for my sake, and for the good news`,Jesus said, "Most assuredly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the gospel's sake,Jesus said, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has given up house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or land, because of me and the good news,
Mark 10:30who may not receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and fields, with persecutions, and in the age that is coming, life age-during;but he will receive one hundred times now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.Who will not get a hundred times as much now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land though with great troubles; and, in the world to come, eternal life.
Mark 10:31and many first shall be last, and the last first.`But many who are first will be last; and the last first."But a great number who are first will be last: and those who are last will be first.
Mark 10:32And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them, and they were amazed, and following they were afraid. And having again taken the twelve, he began to tell them the things about to happen to him,They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.And they were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them: and they were full of wonder; but those who came after him were in fear. And again he took the twelve, and gave them word of the things which were to come on him,
Mark 10:33`Lo, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the nations,"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.Saying, See, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be given up to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will give an order for his death, and will give him up to the Gentiles:
Mark 10:34and they shall mock him, and scourge him, and spit on him, and kill him, and the third day he shall rise again.`They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again."And they will make sport of him, and put shame on him, and give him cruel blows, and will put him to death; and after three days he will come back from the dead.
Mark 10:35And there come near to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying, `Teacher, we wish that whatever we may ask for ourselves, thou mayest do for us;`James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask."And there came to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying to him, Master, will you give us whatever may be our request?
Mark 10:36and he said to them, `What do ye wish me to do for you?`He said to them, "What do you want me to do for you?"And he said to them, What would you have me do for you?
Mark 10:37and they said to him, `Grant to us that, one on thy right hand and one on thy left, we may sit in thy glory;`They said to him, "Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory."And they said to him, Let us be seated, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.
Mark 10:38and Jesus said to them, `Ye have not known what ye ask; are ye able to drink of the cup that I drink of, and with the baptism that I am baptized with to be baptized?`But Jesus said to them, "You don't know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?"But Jesus said to them, You have no knowledge of what you are saying. Are you able to take of my cup? or to undergo the baptism which I am to undergo?
Mark 10:39And they said to him, `We are able;` and Jesus said to them, `Of the cup indeed that I drink of, ye shall drink, and with the baptism that I am baptized with, ye shall be baptized;They said to him, "We are able." Jesus said to them, "You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;And they said to him, We are able. And Jesus said to them, You will take of the cup from which I take; and the baptism which I am about to undergo you will undergo:
Mark 10:40but to sit on my right and on my left, is not mine to give, but to those for whom it hath been prepared.`but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared."But to be seated at my right hand or at my left is not for me to give: but it is for those for whom it has been made ready.
Mark 10:41And the ten having heard, began to be much displeased at James and John,When the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation towards James and John.And hearing this, the ten became very angry with James and John.
Mark 10:42but Jesus having called them near, saith to them, `Ye have known that they who are considered to rule the nations do exercise lordship over them, and their great ones do exercise authority upon them;Jesus called them to him, and said to them, "You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.And Jesus made them come to him, and said to them, You see that those who are made rulers over the Gentiles are lords over them, and their great ones have authority over them.
Mark 10:43but not so shall it be among you; but whoever may will to become great among you, he shall be your minister,But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you, will be your servant.But it is not so among you: but whoever has a desire to become great among you, let him be your servant:
Mark 10:44and whoever of you may will to become first, he shall be servant of all;Whoever of you wants to become first among you, shall be servant of all.And whoever has a desire to be first among you, let him be servant of all.
Mark 10:45for even the Son of Man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.`For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."For truly the Son of man did not come to have servants, but to be a servant, and to give his life for the salvation of men.
Mark 10:46And they come to Jericho, and as he is going forth from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, a son of Timaeus Bartimaeus the blind was sitting beside the way begging,They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.And they came to Jericho: and when he was going out of Jericho, with his disciples and a great number of people, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind man, was seated by the wayside, with his hand out for money.
Mark 10:47and having heard that it is Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and to say, `The Son of David Jesus! deal kindly with me;`When he heard that it was Jesus, the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!"And when it came to his ears that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he gave a cry, and said, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.
Mark 10:48and many were rebuking him, that he might keep silent, but the more abundantly he cried out, `Son of David, deal kindly with me.`Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out the more a great deal, "You son of David, have mercy on me!"And some of them, turning in protest, gave him an order to be quiet: but he went on crying out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.
Mark 10:49And Jesus having stood, he commanded him to be called, and they call the blind man, saying to him, `Take courage, rise, he doth call thee;`Jesus stood still, and said, "Call him." They called the blind man, saying to him, "Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you."And Jesus came to a stop and said, Let him come. And crying out to the blind man, they said to him, Be comforted: come, he has sent for you.
Mark 10:50and he, having cast away his garment, having risen, did come unto Jesus.He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.And he, putting off his coat, got up quickly, and came to Jesus.
Mark 10:51And answering, Jesus saith to him, `What wilt thou I may do to thee?` and the blind man said to him, `Rabboni, that I may see again;`Jesus answered him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said to him, "Rhabboni, that I may see again."And Jesus said to him, What would you have me do to you? And the blind man said, Master, make me able to see.
Mark 10:52and Jesus said to him, `Go, thy faith hath saved thee:` and immediately he saw again, and was following Jesus in the way.Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your faith has made you well." Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.And Jesus said to him, Go on your way; your faith has made you well. And straight away he was able to see, and went after him in the way.
