Genesis 40:1And it cometh to pass, after these things the butler of the king of Egypt and the baker have sinned against their lord, against the king of Egypt;It happened after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.And it came to pass after these things, [that] the cup-bearer of the king of Egypt and the baker offended their lord the king of Egypt.
Genesis 40:2and Pharaoh is wroth against his two eunuchs, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers,Pharaoh was angry against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.And Pharaoh was wroth with his two chamberlains with the chief of the cup-bearers and with the chief of the bakers;
Genesis 40:3and giveth them in charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, unto the round-house, the place where Joseph [is] a prisoner,He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.and he put them in custody into the house of the captain of the life-guard, into the tower-house, into the place where Joseph was imprisoned.
Genesis 40:4and the chief of the executioners chargeth Joseph with them, and he serveth them; and they are days in charge.The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.And the captain of the life-guard appointed Joseph to them, that he should attend on them. And they were [several] days in custody.
Genesis 40:5And they dream a dream both of them, each his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker whom the king of Egypt hath, who [are] prisoners in the round-house.They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.And they dreamed a dream, both of them in one night, each his dream, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup-bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were imprisoned in the tower-house.
Genesis 40:6And Joseph cometh in unto them in the morning, and seeth them, and lo, they [are] morose;Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and, saw that they were sad.And Joseph came in to them in the morning, and looked on them, and behold, they were sad.
Genesis 40:7and he asketh Pharaoh`s eunuchs who [are] with him in charge in the house of his lord, saying, `Wherefore [are] your faces sad to-day?`He asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?"And he asked Pharaoh's chamberlains that were with him in custody in his lord's house, saying, Why are your faces [so] sad to-day?
Genesis 40:8And they say unto him, `A dream we have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it;` and Joseph saith unto them, `Are not interpretations with God? recount, I pray you, to me.`They said to him, "We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it." Joseph said to them, "Don't interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me."And they said to him, We have dreamt a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said to them, [Do] not interpretations [belong] to God? tell me [your dreams], I pray you.
Genesis 40:9And the chief of the butlers recounteth his dream to Joseph, and saith to him, `In my dream, then lo, a vine [is] before me!The chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,Then the chief of the cup-bearers told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
Genesis 40:10and in the vine [are] three branches, and it [is] as it were flourishing; gone up hath its blossom, its clusters have ripened grapes;and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters of it brought forth ripe grapes.and in the vine were three branches; and it was as though it budded: its blossoms shot forth, its clusters ripened into grapes.
Genesis 40:11and Pharaoh`s cup [is] in my hand, and I take the grapes and press them into the cup of Pharaoh, and I give the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.`Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand."And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
Genesis 40:12And Joseph saith to him, `This [is] its interpretation: the three branches are three days;Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days.And Joseph said to him, This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days.
Genesis 40:13yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head, and hath put thee back on thy station, and thou hast given the cup of Pharaoh into his hand, according to the former custom when thou wast his butler.Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his butler.In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head and restore thee to thy place, and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his cup-bearer.
Genesis 40:14`Surely if thou hast remembered me with thee, when it is well with thee, and hast done (I pray thee) kindness with me, and hast made mention of me unto Pharaoh, then hast thou brought me out from this house,But remember me when it will be well with you, and show kindness, please, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.Only bear a remembrance with thee of me when it goes well with thee, and deal kindly, I pray thee, with me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house;
Genesis 40:15for I was really stolen from the land of the Hebrews; and here also have I done nothing that they have put me in the pit.`For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon."for indeed I was stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
Genesis 40:16And the chief of the bakers seeth that he hath interpreted good, and he saith unto Joseph, `I also [am] in a dream, and lo, three baskets of white bread [are] on my head,When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, "I also was in my dream, and, behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.And when the chief of the bakers saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.
Genesis 40:17and in the uppermost basket [are] of all [kinds] of Pharaoh`s food, work of a baker; and the birds are eating them out of the basket, from off my head.`In the uppermost basket there was of all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."And in the uppermost basket there were all manner of victuals for Pharaoh that the baker makes, and the birds ate them out of the basket upon my head.
Genesis 40:18And Joseph answereth and saith, `This [is] its interpretation: the three baskets are three days;Joseph answered, "This is the interpretation of it. The three baskets are three days.And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation of it: the three baskets are three days.
Genesis 40:19yet, within three days doth Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hath hanged thee on a tree, and the birds have eaten thy flesh from off thee.`Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you."In yet three days will Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and hang thee on a tree; and the birds will eat thy flesh from off thee.
Genesis 40:20And it cometh to pass, on the third day, Pharaoh`s birthday, that he maketh a banquet to all his servants, and lifteth up the head of the chief of the butlers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his servants,It happened the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants.And it came to pass the third day Pharaoh's birthday that he made a feast to all his bondmen. And he lifted up the head of the chief of the cup-bearers, and the head of the chief of the bakers among his bondmen.
Genesis 40:21and he putteth back the chief of the butlers to his butlership, and he giveth the cup into the hand of Pharaoh;He restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand;And he restored the chief of the cup-bearers to his office of cup-bearer again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
Genesis 40:22and the chief of the bakers he hath hanged, as Joseph hath interpreted to them;but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.And he hanged the chief of the bakers, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
Genesis 40:23and the chief of the butlers hath not remembered Joseph, but forgetteth him.Yet the chief butler didn't remember Joseph, but forgot him.But the chief of the cup-bearers did not remember Joseph, and forgot him.
