John 12:1Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where was Lazarus, who had died, whom he raised out of the dead;Therefore six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.Jesus therefore, six days before the pasch, came to Bethania, where Lazarus had been dead, whom Jesus raised to life.
John 12:2they made, therefore, to him a supper there, and Martha was ministering, and Lazarus was one of those reclining together (at meat) with him;So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.And they made him a supper there: and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that were at table with him.
John 12:3Mary, therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of spikenard, of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus and did wipe with her hair his feet, and the house was filled from the fragrance of the ointment.Mary, therefore, took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
John 12:4Therefore saith one of his disciples Judas Iscariot, of Simon, who is about to deliver him upThen Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said:
John 12:5`Wherefore was not this ointment sold for three hundred denaries, and given to the poor?`"Why wasn't this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?"Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
John 12:6and he said this, not because he was caring for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and what things were put in he was carrying.Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the purse, carried the things that were put therein.
John 12:7Jesus, therefore, said, `Suffer her; for the day of my embalming she hath kept it,But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.Jesus therefore said: Let her alone, that she may keep it against the day of my burial.
John 12:8for the poor ye have always with yourselves, and me ye have not always.`For you always have the poor with you, but you don't always have me."For the poor you have always with you; but me you have not always.
John 12:9A great multitude, therefore, of the Jews knew that he is there, and they came, not because of Jesus only, but that Lazarus also they may see, whom he raised out of the dead;A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there, and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.A great multitude therefore of the Jews knew that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
John 12:10and the chief priests took counsel, that also Lazarus they may kill,But the chief priests conspired to also put Lazarus to death,But the chief priests thought to kill Lazarus also:
John 12:11because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.Because many of the Jews, by reason of him, went away, and believed in Jesus.
John 12:12On the morrow, a great multitude that came to the feast, having heard that Jesus doth come to Jerusalem,On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,And on the next day, a great multitude that was to come to the festival day, when they had heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
John 12:13took the branches of the palms, and went forth to meet him, and were crying, `Hosanna, blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord the king of Israel;`they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!"Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried: Hosanna, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.
John 12:14and Jesus having found a young ass did sit upon it, according as it is written,Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,And Jesus found a young ass, and sat upon it, as it is written:
John 12:15`Fear not, daughter of Sion, lo, thy king doth come, sitting on an ass` colt.`"Don't be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt."Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy king cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
John 12:16And these things his disciples did not know at the first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were having been written about him, and these things they did to him.His disciples didn't understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.These things his disciples did not know at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things to him.
John 12:17The multitude, therefore, who are with him, were testifying that he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and did raise him out of the dead;The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying.The multitude therefore gave testimony, which was with him, when he called Lazarus out of the grave, and raised him from the dead.
John 12:18because of this also did the multitude meet him, because they heard of his having done this sign,For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.For which reason also the people came to meet him, because they heard that he had done this miracle.
John 12:19the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves, `Ye see that ye do not gain anything, lo, the world did go after him.`The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him."The Pharisees therefore said among themselves: Do you see that we prevail nothing? behold, the whole world is gone after him.
John 12:20And there were certain Greeks out of those coming up that they may worship in the feast,Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.Now there were certain Gentiles among them, who came up to adore on the festival day.
John 12:21these then came near to Philip, who [is] from Bethsaida of Galilee, and were asking him, saying, `Sir, we wish to see Jesus;`These, therefore, came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."These therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying: Sir, we would see Jesus.
John 12:22Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew. Again Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
John 12:23And Jesus responded to them, saying, `The hour hath come that the Son of Man may be glorified;Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.But Jesus answered them, saying: The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
John 12:24verily, verily, I say to you, if the grain of the wheat, having fallen to the earth, may not die, itself remaineth alone; and if it may die, it doth bear much fruit;Most assuredly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.Amen, amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,
John 12:25he who is loving his life shall lose it, and he who is hating his life in this world to life age-during shall keep it;He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.Itself remaineth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, keepeth it unto life eternal.
John 12:26if any one may minister to me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also my ministrant shall be; and if any one may minister to me honour him will the Father.If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.
John 12:27`Now hath my soul been troubled, and what? shall I say Father, save me from this hour? but because of this I came to this hour;"Now my soul is troubled. What will I say? 'Father, save me from this time?' But for this cause I came to this time.Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour.
John 12:28Father, glorify Thy name.` There came, therefore, a voice out of the heaven, `I both glorified, and again I will glorify [it];`Father, glorify your name!" Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven: I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
John 12:29the multitude, therefore, having stood and heard, were saying that there hath been thunder; others said, `A messenger hath spoken to him.`The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him."The multitude therefore that stood and heard, said that it thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.
John 12:30Jesus answered and said, `Not because of me hath this voice come, but because of you;Jesus answered, "This voice hasn't come for my sake, but for your sakes.Jesus answered, and said: This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
John 12:31now is a judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast forth;Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
John 12:32and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself.`I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself.
John 12:33And this he said signifying by what death he was about to die;But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.(Now this he said, signifying what death he should die.)
John 12:34the multitude answered him, `We heard out of the law that the Christ doth remain to the age; and how dost thou say, That it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? who is this the Son of Man?`The multitude answered him, "We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up?' Who is this Son of Man?"The multitude answered him: We have heard out of the law, that Christ abideth for ever; and how sayest thou: The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?
John 12:35Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time is the light with you; walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; and he who is walking in the darkness hath not known where he goeth;Jesus therefore said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn't overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn't know where he is going.Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while, the light is among you. Walk whilst you have the light, that the darkness overtake you not. And he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he goeth.
John 12:36while ye have the light, believe in the light, that sons of light ye may become.` These things spake Jesus, and having gone away, he was hid from them,While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.Whilst you have the light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things Jesus spoke; and he went away, and hid himself from them.
John 12:37yet he having done so many signs before them, they were not believing in him,But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn't believe in him,And whereas he had done so many miracles before them, they believed not in him:
John 12:38that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, `Lord, who gave credence to our report? and the arm of the Lord to whom was it revealed?`that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"That the saying of Isaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who hath believed our hearing? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
John 12:39Because of this they were not able to believe, that again Isaiah said,For this cause they couldn't believe, for Isaiah said again,Therefore they could not believe, because Isaias said again:
John 12:40`He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn back, and I might heal them;`"He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, Lest they should see with their eyes, And perceive with their heart, And would turn, And I would heal them."He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
John 12:41these things said Isaiah, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and he spoke of him.These things said Isaias, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
John 12:42Still, however, also out of the rulers did many believe in him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing, that they might not be put out of the synagogue,Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn't confess it, so that they wouldn't be put out of the synagogue,However, many of the chief men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, that they might not be cast out of the synagogue.
John 12:43for they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.for they loved men's approval more than God's approval.For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
John 12:44And Jesus cried and said, `He who is believing in me, doth not believe in me, but in Him who sent me;Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.But Jesus cried, and said: He that believeth in me, doth not believe in me, but in him that sent me.
John 12:45and he who is beholding me, doth behold Him who sent me;He who sees me sees him who sent me.And he that seeth me, seeth him that sent me.
John 12:46I a light to the world have come, that every one who is believing in me in the darkness may not remain;I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.I am come a light into the world; that whosoever believeth in me, may not remain in darkness.
John 12:47and if any one may hear my sayings, and not believe, I I do not judge him, for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn't believe, I don't judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.And if any man hear my words, and keep them not, I do not judge him: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:48`He who is rejecting me, and not receiving my sayings, hath one who is judging him, the word that I spake, that will judge him in the last day,He who rejects me, and doesn't receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:49because I spake not from myself, but the Father who sent me, He did give me a command, what I may say, and what I may speak,For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent me, he gave me commandment what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50and I have known that His command is life age-during; what, therefore, I speak, according as the Father hath said to me, so I speak.`I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak."And I know that his commandment is life everlasting. The things therefore that I speak, even as the Father said unto me, so do I speak.
