Matthew 19:4 | And he answering said to them, `Did ye not read, that He who made [them], from the beginning a male and a female made them, | He answered, "Haven't you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, | "Have you not read," He replied, "that He who made them `made them' from the beginning `male and female, |
Matthew 19:5 | and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall be the two for one flesh? | and said, 'For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife; and the two will become one flesh?' | and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be one'? |
Matthew 19:6 | so that they are no more two, but one flesh; what therefore God did join together, let no man put asunder.` | So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart." | Thus they are no longer two, but `one'! What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate." |
Matthew 19:7 | They say to him, `Why then did Moses command to give a roll of divorce, and to put her away?` | They asked him, "Why then did Moses command us to give her a bill of divorce, and divorce her?" | "Why then," said they, "did Moses command the husband to give her `a written notice of divorce,' and so put her away?" |
Matthew 19:8 | He saith to them `Moses for your stiffness of heart did suffer you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it hath not been so. | He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so. | "Moses," He replied, "in consideration of the hardness of your nature permitted you to put away your wives, but it has not been so from the beginning. |
Matthew 19:9 | `And I say to you, that, whoever may put away his wife, if not for whoredom, and may marry another, doth commit adultery; and he who did marry her that hath been put away, doth commit adultery.` | I tell you that whoever will put away his wife, except for sexual immorality, and will marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is put away commits adultery." | And I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery." |
Matthew 19:10 | His disciples say to him, `If the case of the man with the woman is so, it is not good to marry.` | His disciples said to him, "If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry." | "If this is the case with a man in relation to his wife," said the disciples to Him, "it is better not to marry." |
Matthew 19:11 | And he said to them, `All do not receive this word, but those to whom it hath been given; | But he said to them, "Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given. | "It is not every man," He replied, "who can receive this teaching, but only those on whom the grace has been bestowed. |
Matthew 19:12 | for there are eunuchs who from the mother`s womb were so born; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who kept themselves eunuchs because of the reign of the heavens: he who is able to receive [it] let him receive.` | For there are eunuchs, who were born that way from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs, who were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven's sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it." | There are men who from their birth have been disabled from marriage, others who have been so disabled by men, and others who have disabled themselves for the sake of the Kingdom of the Heavens. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it." |
Matthew 19:13 | Then were brought near to him children that he might put hands on them and pray, and the disciples rebuked them. | Then little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them, and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. | Then young children were brought to Him for Him to put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples interfered. |
Matthew 19:14 | But Jesus said, `Suffer the children, and forbid them not, to come unto me, for of such is the reign of the heavens;` | But Jesus said, "Allow the little children, and don't forbid them to come to me; for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven." | Jesus however said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for it is to those who are childlike that the Kingdom of the Heavens belongs." |
Matthew 19:15 | and having laid on them [his] hands, he departed thence. | He laid his hands on them, and departed there. | So He laid His hands upon them and went away. |

Matthew 19:17 | And he said to him, `Why me dost thou call good? no one [is] good except One God; but if thou dost will to enter into the life, keep the commands.` | He said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." | "Why do you ask me," He replied, "about what is good? There is only One who is truly good. But if you desire to enter into Life, keep the Commandments." |
Matthew 19:18 | He saith to him, `What kind?` And Jesus said, `Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, | He said to him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not offer false testimony. | "Which Commandments?" he asked. Jesus answered, "`Thou shalt not kill;' `Thou shalt not commit adultery;' `Thou shalt not steal;' `Thou shalt not lie in giving evidence;' |

Matthew 19:22 | And the young man, having heard the word, went away sorrowful, for he had many possessions; | But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions. | On hearing those words the young man went away much cast down; for he had much property. |
Matthew 19:23 | and Jesus said to his disciples, `Verily I say to you, that hardly shall a rich man enter into the reign of the heavens; | Jesus said to his disciples, "Most assuredly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty. | So Jesus said to His disciples, "I solemnly tell you that it is with difficulty that a rich man will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens. |
Matthew 19:24 | and again I say to you, it is easier for a camel through the eye of a needle to go, than for a rich man to enter into the reign of God.` | Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." | Yes, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God." |

Matthew 19:26 | And Jesus having earnestly beheld, said to them, `With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.` | Looking at them, Jesus said, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." | Jesus looked at them and said, "With men this is impossible, but with God everything is possible." |
Matthew 19:27 | Then Peter answering said to him, `Lo, we did leave all, and follow thee, what then shall we have?` | Then Peter answered, "Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?" | Then Peter said to Jesus, "See, *we* have forsaken everything and followed you; what then will be *our* reward?" |
Matthew 19:28 | And Jesus said to them, `Verily I say to you, that ye who did follow me, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man may sit upon a throne of his glory, shall sit ye also upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel; | Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly I tell you, that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. | "I solemnly tell you," replied Jesus, "that in the New Creation, when the Son of Man has taken His seat on His glorious throne, all of you who have followed me shall also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel. |
